When I purchased my table(Scoutmaster)I called VPI and low and behold--Harry answered the phone. He recommended both the Dynavector and the Blackbird.I'm using a 20X low output with the new Karat body style that I recently purchased from Quest For ...
Best CD Player under $1200
Hard to say what is best--there are so many!!! The best I have heard new at that price is the Soundquest SQ-12.The Music Hall 25 mk.II is excellent at half that price. You should also be able to get the Raysonic 128 used for $1200-$1300.
Von Schweikerts VR4 JR's and SR's?
I've owned The VR2's,4jr's and 4sr's.The 2's are nice, the 4jr's are better and the sr's are in an entirely different ballpark. They are truly phenominal speakers and better their little brothers in terms of dynamics, soundstage, frequency extension,a...

Suggestions for an AV receiver with phono input.
Try a used Pioneer VSX 56TXi or VSX 59TXI.Both upconvert to component video, have outstanding MOSFET amps(unlike their current models),Have analog direct bypass modes and decent phono stages. These are among the few receivers that I have been able t...

Raysonic CD-128. How good?
When I first heard the Raysonic my impressions were the same as yours.I was looking to replace my Consonance Droplet with something less cumbersome(to make room for a Turntable on the top shelf of my rack). When I saw the Raysonic at my dealer I fe...
Opinion on Sonic Frontiers SFM-160 monoblocks
I owned both SFM-75 monos and 160 monos for several years.I think they are nice(but unremarkable) amps.Be prepared to experiment! The tubes, cables, DAC and speakers are all important in the equation. At that price they are a no brainer.I sold mine f...
What are your experience with The Sililoquy 5.3's?

Consonance Calaf versus Dk Design Vs.1 MkII or III
I've heard the Calaf at Quest For Sound on a number of occasions.I thought it blew away the DK that Steve carried at that time.Used it to audition the Turandot CD player which I purchased. If I did not have the Cyber 800 amps and Cyber 50 pre I wou...
What are your experience with The Sililoquy 5.3's?
I loved mine.I used them with Sonic Frontiers FM 75 monos,Tara RSC cables and a Cary 303/200 CD player.I auditioned them with Consonance M400 monos and Ref.CD player. They sounded great in the store(Quest For Sound).I replaced (upgraded} them with ...
