Just confused about where to start
I kind of surprised you liked the Motion 15s considering the sound signature you mentioned upthread, I found the ML Motion series to be unpleasantly bright, but it could've been set up poorly in the BB when I demoed them, there's a ton of variatio...
Just confused about where to start
The nice thing about headphones is that they take the room out of the equation. For speakers the room, furnishings, treatments (if any), and positioning can make a big difference. Is this a dedicated listening space or are going to be practical co...
Just confused about where to start
If you want imaging and clarity without brightness the Elac Uni-Fis could be right up your alley.  A subwoofer is about more than visceral bass, it also helps unload a lot of work from the amplifier and can ease positioning issues with the mains (...
Just confused about where to start
For $1,500 this is the way I'd go:Speakers: Elac Uni-Fi UB5 (currently on sale for $350 @ Amazon, normally $500/pair, and they'll easily best speakers costing quite a bit more)Amp:  Elac Element EA101EQ (currently on sale for $620 @ Amazon)Subwoof...
Comparing Ribbon Tweeters - Golden Ear vs. Ascend Sierra
True, but as most AMTs are more square compared to most ribbons being tall and skinny most AMTs are going to have more limited horizontal dispersion than most ribbons, there are, of course, always exceptions.  Also true that the room will certainl...
Comparing Ribbon Tweeters - Golden Ear vs. Ascend Sierra
True ribbons and AMTs both have strengths and weaknesses.  AMTs are easier to scale up in size and can cross over lower than practically sized true ribbons.  They can also be very good at handling rather extreme amounts of power.  On the downside ...
Car audio of the future ....
I drive a car to get places, and some nice music or an audio book is a nice way to pass the time sitting in stop and go traffic on the way to or from work or coasting down the highway with the cruise on.  As far as the article in the first post go...
Personas....7F vs 9H
Good catch, I was thinking 3F and typed 5F.  I was thinking the Persona subs both for matching the finish of the speakers, and for the built-in ARC.  If you go with a Pre-Amp or Integrated Amp with bass management and room correction built-in (lik...
Personas....7F vs 9H
If you have a pre-amp with sub-outs I wonder if you might not even get better performance for less money doing a pair of Persona Bs or Persona 5Fs combined with a pair of Persona Subs.  The Persona Subs have the same ARC correction built in as the...
Sonus Faber Venere discontinued?
Don't they still have the Chameleon and Principia lines below the Venere?  Their parent company also owns Sumiko subwoofers from what I can tell, and you don't hear much about those, so perhaps adding subs to the Sonus Faber line, which at least h...
Emotiva T1 Towers - Audiophile Quality or Just Home Theatre Towers?
213runnin -The Goldenears are engineered in the US and built in China just like the Emotiva speakers.  Being built in China isn't necessarily a bad thing if proper quality control is in place, a lot of very nice speakers are manufactured there. As ...

Emotiva T1 Towers - Audiophile Quality or Just Home Theatre Towers?
If you had $1,000 to spend you could step up to the T2s and get the 8" woofers.  I've heard good things about the Emotiva Airmotiv speakers, they seem to offer a lot of bang for the buck.  I wasn't very impressed with the Triton 1s when I audition...
KEF and Paradigm
I haven't heard the KEFs, but the Paradigm Persona Bs are hands down the best speakers I've ever heard, I imagine the bigger ones are even better.
Ess Company
I've been curious about ESS speakers.  I know they've been reborn recently, and I'm looking forward to hearing them at AXPONA next month.
