What would you choose for about $1k, ZU DW, SVS Ultra bookshelf or Tekton Lore? Congrats. I own Omen DW mkII's along with two other Zu models. I agree with Steve Guttenberg 100%... the Omen DW is an extremely fun speaker to listen to. And yes I think their cabinet workmanship is top notch. Like you I came to Zu from B&...
Tube or Trasistor I did hear Sean Casey of Zu on a podcast the other day talk about how he hates the sound of KT88 tubes. Your amp might not be the best match for the Soul. With that said, I agree with the poster above... try pointing your speakers straight out with...
What are your thoughts about moving up product line(s) within a Company? I have 3 pairs of Zu speakers:Omen Dirty Weekend MkIISoul SuperflyDefHeadThe Omen DW's are the most recent acquisition, really bought for fun more than anything. I was kind of amazed how good they sound in comparison to my other pairs. You reall...
Integrated amp match for Zu Soul Superfly Solid state can be tricky with the Superflys. I use a vintage Sansui AU-666 with my Superflys and I love it, so I'd consider a vintage Sansui or Marantz. Vintage will also get you the WAF.
Has anyone compared ZU mission vs Event speaker cables (and interconnects)? I have Event mk1 speaker cables. I'm a huge fan of their speakers, less so their cables. Running them with my DefHeads they are definitely more resolving, but to my ears a bit too analytical. I mostly use my Black Cat Redlevel Couer cables inst...
Cable Survey I'm with @grannyring on this. Duelund DCA16GA speaker wire is cheap and crazy good. You can have world-class speaker wire for as little as $100 depending on what length you need. I spent $160 because I needed 12 foot runs, that's still cheap. ...
Dac+Amp recommendation for streaming-only system https://www.stereophile.com/content/zu-essence-loudspeaker-measurementsWho said Zu are supremely good speakers.Good grief, I swear every criticism of Zu speakers begins and ends with the fabled Essence measurements from 8 years ago. I suppose it ...
Tube amp for Zu Omen I'd be shocked if the SE84UFO didn't get it done for you. Did you see this review? https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2017/07/29/mini-review-zu-audio-dirty-weekend-omen-version-ii/
Power cables and sharp dimensional imaging on a budget, Zu Audio and Furutech or Oyaide Richard, after reading about your system, my advice would be to not go out and spend a bunch of money on cables. I mean no offense by this, and your system may sound fantastic, but it doesn’t appear to be the type of amp/speakers that are going to...
Zu Soul Supreme Recap -- Owners, what are your preferred system pairings with them? I'll chime in, as I own Superflys. I was using FirstWatt amps for a few years (F3/M2), but I'm using a vintage Sansui AU-666 now. I'm doing a very un-audiophile thing... I bumped up the floor gap on the Superflys to about an inch and I leave the...
Surprise when revisiting your older gear. Ever happen to you? Yes, just happened to me a few weeks ago. I bought a vintage 70's Sansui AU-666 integrated on a lark off ebay at a decent price, mostly for its looks. It was a total dog in the first system I hooked it up to, muddy and veiled. Anyway, I was get...
Decware and Zu. A pairing made in heaven Awesome sauce! Congrats, bet it sounds great.
Zu Audio Omen MKII Hi brimel,I don't own Omens but I own 2 other pair of Zu speakers (Superfly and DefHead). I can't answer your question directly, but I have upgraded the drivers on my Superflys, so I can offer some perspective. The new drivers on Omen mkII shoul...
morrow ma1 interconnect If you don't believe in system synergy, then you must not have heard a component before that sounded crappy in one system and fantastic in another.
Zu Omen Def Mk.2 - Updated Review Glad you are happy with the Omen Defs. Tell me more about the MP-301 tube amp... how do you like it? I've been reading about it and it sounds like it would be a great match with Zu speaks. |
