Anyone have 'stereo blend' control experience?
The Apt Holman preamp (great 70s gear available on Ebay)has the best stereo blend control I have seen. Complete infinity variable blend/separation of channels. A real eye opener.
Where can I send my tubes for testing?
There is no substitute for having a tube tester "in house" to try to figure out why the glow went away at 9 p.m. on a Saturday.Check Ebay under "tube tester". A tester for every budget. For quick and dirty testing (cheap to) I would suggest a Eico...

Dedicated outlets vs Power Conditioner
Hey Sugarbrie I'll bet your electronics get a real jolt when you trigger the 1/2 hp garage door opener.
Granite under your amp???
T-6061 aluminum air hardens. By this time that amp stand must be like a trampoline-very lively. Not exactly what you may be looking for. Granite (Harbor Freight has the machine plates on sale from time to time-free shipping also) is harder and mor...

Help: power problem with Vandersteen 2Wq subs
Get a cheap 3 LED outlet analyser in the electrical section. For @$8.00 USD it will tell you the status (reversed polarity, no ground, etc.) of every outlet you have.
Help: power problem with Vandersteen 2Wq subs
Check to see if you have a valid audio signal getting to the subwoofer. Sounds like the subwoofer is not getting sufficient "turn on" audio current; not a a.c. problem at all.
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
I thought the original question was whether the Jolida was a viable intro to tube amplification. You obviously like solid state. Goody for you. So do I. But that's why I have three systems, two SS, one Jolida based tube.Your comparison of Sealelec...
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
I think there is some snobbery concerning the Jolida. Its not a $40K set of Jadis' but, rather, a fine piece of listening equipment. I love this amp. It is smooth, warm, reliable, and tweakable. I replaced the signal tubes with (2) Ken-Rad VT-231 ...
Heat Shrink Tubing - How ???
Move the wire racks of a kitchen oven to allow yourself room. Preheat an oven to 400 degree (F). Hold the wire end (just off the head shrink) with a pair of tongs. Open the oven door. (careful, there will be a blast of hot air) Insert the tongs ho...
Original Packaging, you gotta have it.
Another thing to remember; like physics. Place all weight (converted to kinetic energy) on the upper left corner of a box containing a 60lb speaker and dropped from the top of an 8 ft UPS van. Result: speaker mash. (Last year I had to order 4(!) s...

Anybody know anything about Audioquest GR-8 cable?
I have an all tube system and listen mostly to rock and jazz via C.D. I have had a 12' pair of (non-biwired) GR-8s for over two months.Love them. Rich controlled bass, clear tight treble. Not harsh or muddy.Very well constructed, fairly flexable, ...
