I have been using Audio Magic products for years, and love them. If Jerry, Mr Silver himself--the Audio Magic man says that light will have a deleterious on the MST treatment, I believe him. You would feel better if you called Jerry and asked him all your questions. Hopefully you will come away with the same impressions I did. peace, warren
Audio Magic's MST treatment?
Audio Magic power conditioners and some cables are said to have this MST treatment. Does anyone know what that means?
Also they say that when you opening the power conditioners will destroy this treatment which accounts for 30% of its sound quality. Is there any truth in this, will this treatmnet be affected by the light, air? The power conditioners are not air tight and there are many Audio Magic cables that are MS treatmed which are obviously not effected by the light.
What do you think? Is this warning really true or is it just a way to prevent users opening the units and messing up with them?

I'm also a long time Audio Magic user and extremely happy with their performance. But like most of us, I need to tweak it just to see if I can get it sound better. I plan to change its outlets with Oyaide duplexes. If the light is as you say deleterious on the MST treatment how it doesn't effect the cables with the same treatment??? And I don't think he assembles these conditioners under infra-red light. I don't know I'm just curious... |
Hah ha! what a load. Maybe he captures magical spirits in there and if you open it BOOM! you let them escape? Again, what a crock! Can't open it? because you might be disappointed? probably! I could understand saying you can't open it or void the warranty, but to claim it will ruin the sound is dabbling in 'magical' effects. I guess audiophiles have just gone off the deep end! If anyone is interested in my secret faith based bottle of audiophile nirvana, send $899. for a bottle of invisible audiphile joy, just pour it on your system and enJOY! Yeah... right... |
Well, I have seen the inside of the earlier Audio Magic Stealth and Matrix boxes and ,yes, there is really not much inside. But let me say it again, they are the best sounding power conditioners I've tried. It really doesn't matter whether it's filled with pure air and nothing else, what matters is the sound. So, I'm just curious about this 'new' MST treatment. |
It's all a matter of trust, don't you think? If you believe in a company, their founder, creator, the whole nine, and he says this is what, why and how he does it, why not believe him. That's good enough for me. Tvad, if you knew someone who created, developed, and nurtured a wonderful modification for a component, like a cd player, that you owned and loved, would you believe what he told you in e-mails and phone conversations even if it sounded a bit outlandish and out there? Can you relate? peace, warren :) |
Tvad, if you knew someone who created,Not necessarily, no. I certainly would be dubious if my friend was making claims like those of Audio Magic about the deleterious effect of light on MST. Furthermore, we're talking about business here, and the potential purchase of products. If anything, I am more cautious about doing business with friends, because I don't want a bad business experience to negatively affect our friendship. I can think of few hobbies full of more BS than high end audio tweaks. Frankly, it's embarrassing. Audio Magic's MST might be good and effective stuff, but thus far, the claim that exposure to light will negatively affect MST is suspect. Why not ask your friend if Audio Magic power conditioners are built in darkrooms, or under infared lighting? Ask him HOW light negatively affects MST. These are reasonable questions to ask, and the answers should address the issue pretty thoroughly. |
HI EVERYONE, THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF MST TREATMENTS, THE STANDARD WHICH IS DONE TO THE POWER CONDITIONERS AND THE MODIFIED MST WHICH IS DONE TO THE CABLE PRODUCTS [ THE MODIFIED DOES NOT PRODUCE THE SAME RESULTS AS THE STANDARD BUT IS NOTICEABLE ]. WE ARE NOW DOING OUR CONDITIONERS WITH OUR NEW IPF MODULES AND ALL THESE UNITS CAN BE OPENED AS ALL CRITICAL PARTS WITH MST ARE PROTECTED.ALL POWER CONDITIONERS BEFORE THE IPF MODULES WERE BUILT UNDER A SPECIAL SET OF LIGHT PRODUCING BULBS SUPPLIED BY THE COMPANY THAT TREATS OUR PRODUCTS, AND YES, THIS WAS A PAIN IN THE A-- BUT THE SONIC IMPROVMENTS WERE WORTH IT. AS ALWAYS WE ARE EXTREMEMLY REASONABLE WITH ALL MODIFICATIONS DONE TO OUR PRODUCTS SO IF YOU NEED ANY WORK DONE DON'T HESITATE, IF YOU SO CHOOSE TO OPEN THE CONDITIONERS DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU THE COMPANY THAT DOES THE TREATMENT CHARGES APPOX 450.00 PLUS SHIPPING TO RE- TREAT THE PRODUCT.I HAVE HAD 2 CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE HAD TO RE-TREAT AFTER APPOX 90 DAYS OF OPENING BECAUSE THEIR UNITS STARTED TO DEGRADE SOUND WISE, I PERSONALLY HAVEN'T TRIED EXPOSING THE INSIDES, I TRUST THE COMANY THAT TREATS OUR PRODUCTS FOR US, KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I DO HOWEVER GUARANTEE IT WORKS AND WORKS GOOD. JERRY |
Thanks, Jerry. Any chance of explaining specifically what MST does that lends to a sonic improvement? I did a little Google research, and found the following quote from Positive Feedback Online, Issue 22: It stands for Molecular Stabilization Treatment and is a military secret. This is an exclusive to Audio Magic as no one else has access to it...Really? The military has chosen to allow exclusive access of it's secret Molecular Stabilization Treatment to the manufacturer of a boutique audio accessory company? US military secrets are for sale or license? Or, is this a Russian military secret? Da! Nyet? |
