Cables more hype than value?

What are the opinions out there?

Purity of the cable, 24 awg and very low capacitance is what it's all about. It's nothing more than a signal cable. Now if you need eye candy there are vendors everywhere sell that to ya and all kinds of snake oil available too.
lmbo...most vendors have taken their cables a step above what the basic requirements for signal cable should be. I can see from my previous post some could take it the wrong way. I can deal with that but there are tons of info available on this topic. Any cable that exceeds what I pointed out is definately a worthwhile listen to but not a must have.

With that said, I will also say that I see alot of overpriced cables dubbing themselves the 'elite' must have. I choose not to fall into the have to have 'elite' for my system. Beat me up all day long but I wont change in my thoughts on the matter. Your listening preferences should be based on the quality of sound, not how much you spent.
Audiolabyrinth...I know what you're saying, it's all good.

I know that the combination of pure metals and the right connectors do make a difference. It's a shame they get priced so high. I'll keep in mind the Taralabs for my preamp/amp interconnects. Which model did you opt for?
Thanx for that input, cheers :)
Stringreen...it's all about the purity of the cables and the capacitance. Some vendors have the combination of the conductor elements and connectors down pat.

I own Morpheus, King Cobra, and Blue Jeans...I can tell you there is no difference in the quality of sound.

Audiolabyrinth says the Taralabs are to die for, I can try those to see if what he says is true. It's the dinero they want for a simple interconnect that costs nothing to produce that bothers me.

I try to give every1 and everything the benefit of doubt.
This topic has quite a bit of info when it comes to cables. I thought I was doing it the right way by purchasing decent audio components first but I see my error, I should have been spending my money on cables and then matching my equipment to them.

lol...now ya know I'm not going to go that route. My system is a simple one and it works just fine for me. I will admit I have bought Morpheus, King Cobras, and have to tell you I hear no difference when compared to my trusty ole Blue Jeans.

Maybe someday I'll get around to auditioning a $1K plus set of interconnects but very doubtful I'll ever spend that kind of dinero.

I realize most of the comments are meant to be helpful and I do appreciate that. I'm just old skewl and a lil mental to boot...*laffs
