You may also try "zymol". What ever you do, test a small spot out of direct view.

When I owned my '74 Triumph TR-6 show car I used a plastic polish called PLEXUS. Incredible stuff. Easily took the fog and the scratches out of the soft plastic rear window. made it look like new glass in minutes. Should do the trick on Piano Black without scratching.

The Meguiers works great on plastic, like TT covers...
The website does NOT suggest using the stuff on plastic, but several folks experience is that it is great.

There you go! Plastic polish! Good idea. I remember using a polish intended for plastic windows in convertible tops that worked well. Gullahisland's suggestion seems like the way to go.

I've owned several pair of Solos and received one particular pair which were ALL Piano black with scratches everywhere!!

The less than honest AudiogoN'r shipped them in dusty plastic bags which wreaked havoc on the Piano finish.

The finish on the speakers is NOT PAINT, so I would highly advise against using any of the above recommended products.

The tops are actually acrylic (plastic). I used Novus Plastic polish which has a 3 stage product for removing everything from very minor scratches to larger and deeper scratches.

I bought mine at Tap Plastics. I think it was about $25 for the whole kit. There's PLENTY in each bottle, so you only need one bottle of each. The #1 spray polish is awesome and the ONLY thing I would recommend using to clean your speakers. If you get a big build-up of dust, I recommend gently wiping them with a brand new damp sponge. It helps lift the dust off of the speakers w/o letting dry particles grind into the finish.

Another option to the Meguiar's, and also from the automotive world is 3M Swirl Mark Remover (part no. 39009) This is especially formulated for dark color cars, and was recommended by show car polish manufacturer Sal Zaino when I needed to remove some scratches and water marks from my black Corvette. Sal's suggestion carried a lot of weight with me because he is averse to applying ANY abrasive product to automobiles, and for him to recommend 3M Swirl Mark Remover meant it must be effective and gentle. It worked for me. Use a sponge applicator and go very lightly. Of course, we are all assuming your speakers have a paint finish akin to Merlin loudspeakers, and not gloss laminate. If you have gloss laminate, I'd suggest testing any auto polish on an inconspicuous area...like the bottom of the speakers.

Meguiar's "ScratchX". Automotive super fine polish removes swirl marks on $500,000 cars with $20,000 paint jobs.
It WILL work for your finish.
Costs about $10 a tube. at most automotive stores.
i use it on CeeDees and DVDs too.
