Yeah it helps. But rmember you only need a teeny tiny amount!
If you brush it on with the applicator, wipe off the excess with a Q-tip. I only needs a super thin trace left behind on the surfaces to do it's job.
Leaving too much juice on the metal leads to gunk forming and bad sound to follow.
(same problem was with TWEEK too)
