@knghifi,
Thanks for the update! ;-)
Thanks for the update! ;-)
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
I recently received two slightly different power cords. Each one is made with different Furutech wire (sounds like the wire knghifi describes). The end connectors are High Quality Carbon Fiber Rhodium Plated US Power Plug HIFI IEC Connectors (see below). These power cords IMO are extremely good and surprised me in a very, VERY, ... positive way. Problem is I think the current supply of Furutech wire in the USA might be hard to come by. 5' power cord for less than $250, DIY. http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-Carbon-Fiber-Rhodium-Plated-US-Supply-Power-Plug-HIFI-IEC-Conne... |
@sruffle, The CPT 1200 and 1800 are awesome and have a heck of a lot of bang for the buck, definitely something to consider. Your Cerious Technologies Graphene power cords are very good at a low asking price, and are also big band for the buck. In my opinion you don't realize how good of a power cord you have due to lack of spending a fortune trying other power cords...no offense meant. PM me if you want more detailed information. |
IMO: Alpha testing took place the first week of May 2017. Alpha Tests Beta Tests Test Goals Evaluate the quality of the product and ensure Beta readiness. These tests focus on finding bugs, and answer the question: Does the product work? Evaluate customer satisfaction and ensure release readiness. These tests take users on a guided tour of the product to answer the question: Do customers like the product? When they happen After initial QA testing but before Beta Testing, in the stage of the development process when the product is 60%-80% complete (it’s stable enough for technical users, but not yet feature complete). After Alpha Testing but before Field Testing, in the stage of the development process when the product is 80%-90% complete (it’s stable enough for mainstream users, and mostly feature-complete). Test length Typically 1-2 weeks per test cycle with numerous cycles based on how many issues are discovered and how many new features are released. It’s not uncommon for the total Alpha phase to be 3-5x the length of the following Beta phase. Usually 3-6 weeks per test cycle with only 1-2 cycles. Additional cycles are added if significant new features are introduced or if a core component is changed. Primary stakeholders Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), and Product Management teams. User Experience (UX), Quality Management, and Product Management teams. Participants (testers) Strangers from a variety of targeted technical environments, who can handle giving technical feedback during the test. Involving employees in this stage of testing (a.k.a. dogfooding) helps improve internal alignment and prepare your teams for live-support after launch. Strangers (not friends and family) from your product’s target market. They’ll provide objective insights on the product experience that are relevant to the product’s success and help you better understand your true customers. What testers should expect A product with plenty of bugs and crashes, as well as some missing documents and features. A near feature-complete product with some bugs, fewer crashes, and mostly complete documentation. How feedback is addressed Most known critical and severe issues are fixed, and some features may change or be added as a result of early feedback. Critical or important issues are fixed, and simple user experience improvements are made before product launch. Future versions of the product are heavily influenced by the results. What they achieve Identification of critical issues that cannot be tested in the lab, and insurance of your Betas by addressing show-stopping bugs that would otherwise cripple those tests. They also improve internal alignment and launch-readiness of customer-facing teams. Improvement of launch success by providing evidence-based recommendations for product improvements and a complete view of your customers’ experience with your product. When are they over? A product is Beta-ready when it meets design criteria, all of its primary features work, and Alpha testers are no longer finding critical or blocking issues. A product is Field-ready when mainstream users from your target market are comfortable with the user interface, and are satisfied with their experiences with the product and its features. What happens next? Beta Testing! Field Testing! |
@t_ramey As far as I know, ozzy and I were beta testers for the Deep Core. There could have been other beta testers that I’m not aware of? lak2,479 posts05-02-2017 3:00pm@calloway, UPS just this minute delivered a Deep Core beta unit to me. L=8" x W=8" H= 4". Weight 6 1/2 pounds. lak2,479 posts04-19-2017 6:41pmI’m still patiently waiting to beta-test Deep Core... lak2,479 posts05-03-2017 1:09pmUPS was unkind to the D.C., and I’m waiting for a replacement :-( lak2,479 posts05-21-2017 3:19pmThose are all really good questions, I wish I could answer a few of them however when I returned the beta Deep Core unit because it arrived damaged (UPS), I never had an opportunity to audition it. I’m still waiting for another unit to beta test. I do know that the Deep Core can be used with the 1200, 1800, or directly connected to one or two of your components. As was mentioned Mark will have all the correct answers. lak2,479 posts05-28-2017 9:00amStill waiting for the return of the replacement Deep Core also. @t_ramsey: I never had an opportunity to test the Deep Core. Although I had it in my hands it arrived damaged and I returned it to Mark (early May 2017 and am still waiting for a replacement. I don’t want to speak for ozzy however as I understand it he had to return his unit also and was not able to audition it. This is all part of and a reason for beta testing. |
Interesting thread, otherwise I would have no idea of some of the gear available. To assist with the above questions: http://www.corepowertechnologies.com Bacardi, of the power cords you mentioned, the only one that I'm very familiar with is the HiDiamond P4. What does the CPT cords do that the P4 did not do and in which component? I'm just trying to get a more accurate idea. |
Fast version of the Equi = Core 1800 vs. Denali D2000 Main equipment used in the audition: Allnic T-1500 Integrated 300B Amp, Sonic Frontiers SFT-1 Transport, Yamamoto DA Converter YDA-01, Montana EXP Speakers My Transport and Dac were the only items plugged into the two power conditioners. I want to emphasize that both power conditioner are very good, that's why I own both of them. In my second system (seen above) The Shunyata Denali D2000 was a tad better at giving me more refined micro details and fuller bass, mids, and highs. I want to point out that there is a difference in the price of these two units including different technology that each one uses. One must ask themselves is it worth spending more money for a tad more resolution and detail? It's a personal choice! I’ve never noticed any improvement using my amp and/or Integrated amp with any power conditioner. I hope this helps and I hope I didn’t step on anyone's toes. I also look forward to auditioning the Deep Core Alpha! |
@aniwolfe my understanding is the ISO Pucks could be used under any of the products (1200, 1800, 300, etc), probably any component you wish. Tender feet work also as other brands probably would. ,http://herbiesaudiolab.net/products.htm |
Ozzy, I'm looking forward to your thoughts regarding the CPT power cord you are waiting for. Bacardi, Klh007 or anyone that knows; Are those higher wattage power cords listed on the website or am I missing something? I might have to give Mark a call since I've not received an answer to my email of a week ago. |
Robert, 500 hours will easily break in the HF CT-1E power cord. I doubt if you would even need 500 hours, more like 350 hours, but for your testing purposes 500 hours would be a very fair comparison. My only suggestion would be to make sure once the power cord is in place, don’t move it or jostle it. What compoient is the power cord going to power? Hopefully you are aware that comparing HFC products to other products is very difficult and frustrating because of the lingering effects of magnetic conduction, and the slow restart up of magnetic conduction. This forces the listener to rely upon their memory of the HFC verses a direct comparison A vs B vs C etc. In other words after the HF CT-1E power cord is burned in, evaluate it. Take the HF CT-1E out of the system for a week so that the magnetic conduction effect is gone (using a non HFC power cord during the interim period is fine as long as your not doing any evaluations) and then compare the other power cords. In my opinion if you don’t do this your test results will not be accurate. |
Robert, unfortunately the way you describe your listening audition is not going to be accurate and the listeners are going to hear the lingering effects of the HF CT-1 power cord (magnetic conduction). That's why it's so difficult to do a comparison to HFC products. Just telling it like it is for those readers that are unaware. |
Guys, all I’m saying (and I’m not trying to say anything negative about any of you or the hard work you put into reviews or comparisons) is I’ve learned that there are lingering effects that are present for several days and that might (usually does) add to the sonic signature of other power cords that’s being substituted for the HF power cord. Just be aware of that. If I stepped on anyoes toes I appologize. Peace... |
Robert, I purchased a CPT 300 and I've had it on my Audiodharma Cable Cooker, Anniversary Edition 3.5 CCGR since Friday 5/20. I don't doubt that it's going to be a keeper. I don't think it's really going to matter what order you do your comparisons with the power cords because it's a no win situation. Just be aware of the lingering magnetic conduction and/or when inserted the slow start up of the HFC. You probably don't recognize my moniker, because you deal with an unlimited number of people but I've purchased several HiDiammond products from you over the years, most of which I still use in my various systems ;-) |
Audiogon removed the thread themselves because it continued to get off the OP's topic. The thread could be activated again when things cool down. From what I heard we are waiting for a major announcement about a buyout. As I've always said on these three threads...patience is a virtue... Lets see if it all works out and everyone ends up happy :-) |
Devilboy, Very nice job of describing the improvements you heard with the CPT 150. I agree 100%. I received my CPT 300 and had it on my cable burner for 300 hours before I inserted it into my system. I had it on my Plinius SA Reference amp and it sounded good, but no improvement over my CT GE high current power cord. I moved the CPT 300 into my secondary system and put it on my Allnic T-1500 Integrated 300B amp...WOW!!! I would describe the music exactly the same way you did Devilboy, it's as if we were listening to the same music in the same room. Lastly, I attached the CPT 300 to a power strip in my secondary system and powered my Transport, Dac, and FM tuner and BOOM!...same great results. I'm very happy with the improvements. The only way I was able to better the CPT 300 on the power strip in my main system, was by using my HF CT-1 Ultimate Reference Helix power cable on the power strip (HF MC-6 power distributor), which did sound a tad better. Do the math ;-)! |
@4orreal; Jmcgrogan2 stated my comment correctly, thanks John :-) I used the CPT 300 on my "HF MC-6 Power Distributor" in my main system. That system uses a full loom of HF products of various mid to higher level products. The CPT 300 sounded darn GOOD on the MC-6 Power Distributor! The beauty really came in my secondary system when I plugged the CPT 300 into my Integrated 300B amp and/or my power strip (Blue Circle FX2 XOe6 Line Filter). See my post to Devilboy, from 10:14 AM today 6/9/2016. |
@devilboy Interesting observation and I don't doubt what you say for a second. I have a CPT 300 powering a Blue Circle FX2 XOe6 AC Line Filter (a sophisticated six way power outlet). I run my transport, Dac and FM (tube) tuner from it. Using CD's that I have used for years and know very well for comparisons regarding different audio equipment, I have heard a few details in the music that I've never heard before. Was a real shocker to me in a good way! |
I improved the sound of the CPT 300 by setting the box unit on four 1 1/2" Star Sound brass Audio Points. I just thought I'd through that out there, I'm sure there are other tweaks what would work also. BTW: all power cords and speaker cables are elevated off the floor and I believe that also adds to a blacker background. |
@con1150, no I did not lose any funds to Mark. At this point in time, those that have lost funds should be contacting Mark and if you don't get any satisfaction take legal recourse. I'm not sure what good it does any longer to continue to discuss the issue on these forums, unless there is some new information to share. |
@chazzzy007; Correction chazzzy007 the version II Deep Core blew fuses in ozzy and Lak's system and damaged drloeg's (was either Dac or preamp) and had to go back for repair. BTW the Deep Core at the time the damage occurred in all three was being used to power one or two components it was NOT overloaded and trying to power an entire system (although we tried that also) as others would have you believe. Funny how I was told that there was a team of Marks personal testers that had extensively tested the version I and II Deep Core and it was supposed to be safe to use on an entire system powering a 1200 or 1800! |
@chazzzy007, no problem at all, there was a lot written in those threads that are no longer online. I like many others feel like I was lied to or at least not told the absolute truth. Stories were made up to make it sound like Mark and his company was a high power empire. I remember a comment made by Mark that his team was back from the High-End Munich Show and now that they are back they will be concentrating time on the new improved Deep Core and the new heatsinks that were ordered. Assembly should take place shortly. As far as I know, the company was a small Mom and Pop set up with at times some help from a few friends. If I’m wrong about the comments I’ve made I apologize, but I highly doubt that I’m wrong. My philosophy is, honor the promises you made to people...Mark! |
@t_ramey No tracking number. I hope my comment wasn't premature! Mark asked for varification of my shipping address and phone number. He said the Deep Core was ready to ship and would be headed my way. Maybe my mistake but I assumed othres received a simular email and would be shipping within a few days. |
