Oxidation, how to prevent?

I will soon move to a hot and humid area.

Can afford to run AC all day long not to mention it's not green, like your expert opinions how to prevent it?

Some of my equipments have shinny chrome faces, can I use car wax on them to prevent oxidation? What about RCA or XLR jacks? I don't think I want to use wax there since it will degrade sound, what other options do I have? I can put covers on the unused plugs, but it's not air tight and will still degrade over time.

I often read cartridge suspensions will dry up over time especially in hot weather, does humidity helps or is it worse? Will I be better off storing unused cartridges in humidity & temp control vault?

My family mostly lived on the gulf Florida. The A/C thing is.. you do not need to run it 'cold' all day.. you really just need to let it work at about 2 to 4 degees below outside temps. This will remove the excess moisture from the air. So even if it is 99F outside.. just lower the temp to 96F or so.. this saves a fortune on A/C yet keeps the place far less humid.
Of course when you're home you can lower it more.. but a good idea when out.
You know a dehumidifier is just an airconditioner with the cold air (considered waste) blowing into the extracted heat? The water collected is the same water as a standard air conditioner collects.. just the cold air in an air conditioner is blown into you home, and the hot air outside. The water from an air conditioner is just considered an accidental byproduct, the cold air from a dehumidifier is the accidental byproduct.
