I have a hunch the Lessloss, while an excellent cord, may not provide the added sparkle you desire. In my system, the Lessloss cords do not highlight any particular frequency, and I have listened to a couple of power cords that provide more sparkle and perceived clarity in the highs and upper mids. The problem is that added sparkle in the top end often comes at the expense of midrange weight, IMO. It'd be beneficial for Lessloss if Liudas found a USA distributor who could offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
I have not heard the Tesla or Transparent cords.
You might take a look at the Tel Wire cord. In my system, used on my preamp or Modwright power supply, it did not have quite the body I like, but it had exceptional clarity and sparkle, and therefore might suit your needs nicely. Certainly worth a trial. |
Because yours is a complaint I recall reading in several posts authored by PS Audio owners, I believe the PS Audio is the bottleneck in your system, not the power cords. I owned a PS Audio Ultimate Outlet, and the highs, dynamics and soundstage all suffered as a result.
I suggest running your cords directly to the wall as an experiment, and listening for the change. I'll bet the highs, sparkle and clarity return. |
As an aside, if you're at all interested in new DCCA or Fusion cables, you should know that you can probably get them for (a lot) less than the listed prices!
Tomer Electro77 (System | Threads | Answers) I'm sure Don and Eric appreciate that info! ;) |
To foster_9 don't shut out the Premier it is not a bottleneck. It might take some excitement out... Jimman (Threads | Answers) Maybe I'm reading the OP's post incorrectly, but taking excitement out (lack of crystalline clarity to the upper mids and highs, as the OP wrote) seems to be the crux of the problem. |
03-31-08: Sherod I don't own any Lessloss power cords, nor have I ever auditioned them, but here is a new promotional price "if" you post a review within the first week of owning them. Yeah. It's a bit irksome for those of us who paid full pop a few months ago. Who knew you could get a substantial discount by writing a few kind words on Audiogon in exchange? That kind of nonsense doesn't sit well with me. Set a price, stick to it, and don't sandbag your previous customers. |
It will be hard to trust any reviews now knowing they were bought. Hi5harry (System | Threads | Answers) Exactly. Any subsequent Lessloss reviews are paid advertisements. Nothing more. |

Liudas makes an excellent product, has outstanding service, and he cares about his customers. IMO, the Lessloss power cord was well priced at $500 and very competitive with more expensive cords.
Unfortunately, he has devalued his product with this latest marketing technique, and he has alienated his earliest supporters.
Those purchasing the cords at $300 are getting a great value. However, the carrion await the half price cast-offs. |
04-03-08: Jimman Yo2up maybe right but will have to pay 3000.00 for a cord.
Nonsense. For starters, try a Tel Wire cord for $399, or a used Purist Audio Dominus Ferrox for about $700. |
Before you become too cynical, try and get a listen How do you propose one does this short of buying one? 1) How many people have said anything negative about the cables? How many people say anything negative (or critical) about anything on these boards? Not very many, I can assure you. Especially if they have received a substantial discount for a positive review. 2) How many do you see going fo resale? Giggsy (Answers) No too many. I sold three and kept one. |

There is no question that Lessloss cords have warmth that makes them very attractive.
I have found by comparing to some other cords that detail and extension is sacrificed to some degree.
It's not a matter of what is better, but is a matter of personal preference. It's really difficult to find the Holy Grail. |
