The E-Mats made a solid sound improvement after 24 hours. The effect improved in my system up to 3 weeks. Some of the E-Mats sounded great after initial placement (first six). Placing the last six took more time to improve the sound, like 24 hours.
I have no idea what's in them or how they work. With the 30 day money back guarantee, I had no problem trying them out.
Remember, the first one on the main power panel made an immediate noticeable and significant improvement to audio and video. |
Oops got cut off somehow? I find it odd that Tim has not stated clearly the amount of time needed for full performance and also, without disclosing vital information, the basis of operation. The lack of info has some suggesting that the mat needs charging up and oregonpapa claiming that the mats emit energy. How does a passive device emit energy? It is now slowly becoming apparent that the mats do not play nicely with certain other tweaks. Should not the forum members have been advised of this. Also the products are not cheap and it would be good to hear from experienced users if similarly priced cables would not achieve similar results as a sanity check. Keen to try the TC paste and would appreciate a half quantity at a lower price, lets say a pensioner's portion :)
|
Hi Guys, These products from PPT intrigue me and I would like to try them after reading every post but find the inventor/manufacturer rather backward in coming forward. It is claimed that 4 weeks is needed for the mats to really perform, but that figure comes from much individual experiment.

Thx David Not reknowned for a gentle touch... lol Looks like I will have to have patience... or get the wife to do it for me!
|
uberwaltz: Yes you can do the breaker box and your system with one tube of Total Contact. Remember you want a THIN coat of Total Contact at each intersection you treat. I did my system in 5 stages doing about 20 contact points each session.

David.
That is a whole lot of pasting! And you can get all of that and all your gear out of one tube?
|
Katie Without trashing this thread just step back and look at yourself and your attitude on this forum. You are no doubt very intelligent but 95% of the time you just want to act like a complete j$!k So why be so surprised when others react back in similar fashion? Mystery solved Watson.
On with the show chaps!
No further comment as far as GK is concerned no matter what buttons he tries to press...lol. |
uberwaltz: When using the Total Contact do not forget all the connections in the Circuit breaker box. I think I did 76 connections total. Of course the whole house breaker was removed during the application. Use very small amounts at each connection and enjoy!

Uber, Why all the mystery? Finally, why are you such a drama queen? 💃
gimme an S...gimme an H....gimme an I.... |
I pasted my entire system. Speaker crossovers and internal speaker wire to driver connections yielded the best results for me. I also pasted my LPSs, Lyngdorf 2170, computer server and all cabling connections. I pasted my outlet to in-wall wire connections. I pasted the tops of caps, transformer covers, all connections internally that were safe to paste without the chance for unintentional conductive bridges.
I am just not sure about SR Blue. Seems this line is best unpasted.

Grannyring.
The e-cards are not quite ready yet, Tim says just a few more days .... Lol.
When they are I will be ordering a few and the TC paste at same time.
Went with one mat while waiting.
I will likely ask Frank best areas to use one tube on as think he has most experience of the stuff.
|
Katie As per normal you are WAY off base. Please do not insult my intelligence! Do you truly think I would be posting here and praising the omega mat if I had NOT got them in my system! Please do try and keep up ol boy. I did give you a hint on READING my posts......
Present tweaks include but maybe not limited to SR blue fuses SR blue duplex Omega mats Audio Sensibilities Grounding devices. |
This reminds me of the dude at Stereophile who lambasted the Intelligent Chip without even hearing it. I mean, come on people! Saying how great a product is before you even hear it? Are things so desperate?! 😥
|
@uberwaltz, Are the cards out yet? Are you going to paste the Blue outlet? I think I read that pasting the Blue line did not work out as well as nude Blue? I remember reading this here? |
Maybe you need sharpen up your reading skills a little Katie......
😲😲 |
Let’s us know when you get around to trying any of them, uber. 😬 |
Next item on my tweak list is the TC paste.
One thing I would like to say after dealing with Tim and talking to him on the phone is that he is most definitely one of the good guys in this hobby. A true gentleman and a man of his word. Combine that with outstanding product and it's hard to beat. Thanks Tim!
|
|
The combination of Blue outlets, Blue fuses, Total Contact, and Omega Mats is hard to beat. I just ordered 3 more Mats and a second syringe of Total Contact. I would not want to be without these 4 products in any of my systems.
Today is the last day of the September Synergistic Research outlet + fuse special. Remember they sell with a 30 day return policy.

I don’t have the SR Blue outlet so I can’t speak for that, but I do have the SR Blue fuses in every component. The fuses rock!
Is an SR fuse as effective as an Omega E Mat? Well, I don’t know the answer to that question either as I haven’t done an A/B comparison.
You’re talking about one fuse vs one E Mat. Right now I have four SR Blue fuses in the system. Would those four fuses be better than four Omega E Mats? I honestly don’t think so. I think the Mats would win by a long shot.
What I do know is that the combination of the SR Blue fuses, along with Tim’s "Total Contact," and the Omega E Mats have brought my system to a point WAY beyond what I ever thought I’d have for an audio system.
Bottom line ... taking it one step at a time is a lot of fun. Either way you do it won’t be a mistake ... and it certainly won’t be a step backwards either.
I’m happy. :-)

Grannyring.
I just did the SR September special and blue fuse in the Ayre A7xe and duplex in the wall that feeds my cpt eq1800. A Great deal imho.
It's early days but between those and a couple other tweaks the noise floor has fell off the planet. With ear against tweeter on analog phono stage I am hard pushed to hear a very faint hiss. Huge difference.
And yes effortless is a good way to describe the music. It's just more. Hard to describe.
Now very interesting to see what more mats would do. |
My cable/equipment manufacturer friend does not use any SR products but thoroughly believes in the Blue Fuse. I would guess that the fuse is about equal to a mat on the breaker box. A blue fuse is very important in amplifiers compared to an ordinary fuse. The fuse/outlet combo is a bargain. Then consider more E-Mats. |
@davidpritchard, Frank and others.
SR is having a special right now on the Blue line. If one were to spend $285 for a Blue fuse and Blue outlet how would you rate the sonic impact to your system compared to a second E-Mat? Is the Blue combo 1/2 the positive impact? Just as impactful? Nowhere near as impactful? Only so much money to spend and I wonder if I should just wait and save to buy a second E-Mat down the road or buy the Blue combo now.

grannyring ...
Congrats for figuring out the problem causing the poor performance of your single mat. I’ve suspected for awhile now that some of the previous tweaks being used by a couple of members here have had a detrimental effect on the mats, or at least block the "goodness" of the mats. The improvement afforded by the mats have been so profound in my system, and the systems of my local friends, that I just knew there HAD to be something going on. I sincerely hope others will take heed in what you’ve reported here.
By the way, multiple mats increase the effects you are experiencing with the single mat. Expensive? Yes! Expensive for what they do? No. :-)
Frank |
I propose the active portion of the mat is also the thickness of a credit card and the rest is the magnetic sheet. Not sure, but speculate. |
Something to ask Tim: How big is the field effect from the cards? They aren't very thick and were reported to have been made for cell phones. If you could get one inside the equipment---might work better, not sure.
|
@davidpritchard
Only have one mat under the Lyngdorf. I am interested in the smaller cards for my LPSs used to power my USB reclocker and USB SoTM card. |
grannyring,
Glad you figured out the issue, and are enjoying the music 🙂 |
grannyring4: Congratulations on doing that experiment ! Are you using the Mats anywhere else? Have you tried the Synergistic Research Blue outlets and fuses, as in my system the combination of the SR Blue products and the Omega Mats is quite impressive. I bet your system improves even over the next several days.

I can't count the times over the years I've thought I had finally arrived, only to be surprised by the next improvement using the same equipment. If buying new equipment is the destination, then the tweaks are the journey.

Well I let the mat sit another 12 days or so and still was not sure the result was worth the cost of these mats. Then something occurred to me two days ago. ......
Well I had a revelation. My Lyngdorf has an Audio Magic Pulse Gen Zx in it. It blocks EMI and RFI. Well I understand these devices may restrict the impact of the mat. I removed it 2 days ago. Well now I like what I am hearing. The mat had been in my system some 22 days with mixed results until I removed the Audio Magic tweak. As soon as I removed it I was treated with all of the benifits folks have been sharing about on this thread. Music sounds more beautiful than ever in my home. My system sounds more like live music than ever before. As I turn it up the music swells and expands without any sense of being forced or fired at me from the speakers.
Wonder what two would do? 🙂

The combination of the Omega E Mat and the Total Contact is the best improvement I've made in over 40 years in the hobby. That includes tons of tweaks in the past. Some had a beneficial effect, some did nothing at all. But the Mats and TC combined? Killer!

The key is to CAREFULLY apply Total Contact in a VERY thin layer using the brush included in the kit.
Not sure if you've seen or used the product at this point (have you?), but I can assure you that its NOT a liquid that is POURED over the inside of a component with irresponsible abandon. No one is advocating that.
Thanks for your concern. Much appreciated.

Here is the warning that comes with Total Contact. The manufacturer is very active on this thread. Hopefully, if they have anything else to add they will. IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER: Perfect path Technologies Electrical Contact Enhancer is a next generation HIGHLY CONDUCTIVE contact enhancing formulation. If you bridge the gap between Hot (+) and Ground (-) with Total Contact you run the risk of damaging your equipment. TO USE PAINT A THIN EVEN COAT on the MALE CONTACT SURFACES OR PINS ONLY! NEVER APPLY TOTAL CONTACT TO A FEMALE HOLE on any connector. TOTAL CONTACT works on a micron level, do NOT OVERAPPLY! TOTAL CONTACT can be carefully removed by using a clean cotton swab and pipe cleaner dipped in 90% or greater isopropyl rubbing alcohol….making sure Total Contact particles DO NOT get inside your component’s electrical circuitry. |
Recently a friend was asking me…Is it worth paying $150 for one of those blue fuses?
Now thinking about it, memories are coming back as flashbacks of when I bought my first ‘HI-FI’ stereo system; was 18 years ago when I joined the audiophile world and started this roller coaster ride. Will be almost impossible to remember every piece of equipment I have try or listen to in all these years. Working for an audio retail/importer company designing and installing systems exposed me to some expensive gear, then helping one of the small importers of boutique audio products in the country introduced me to a lot of cool things: valves, fuses, footers, tweaks, etc. Wasn’t to long before I was hook doing DIY, cables, power supplies and modifying, testing and trying anything I could think of...then it came the vinyl addition and so on…
When you really get to play and test a lot of good audio equipment you understand that the small differences/improvements are more related to synergy and placement (room/power) of the components, rather than the equipment by itself. As of today I can not think of any other product than has made such an impact as the TC/e-Mats combination has done to my stereo system…No little or different, the positive impact has been dramatic, and the improvement way beyond any other product I have try until this day.
My sincere recommendation if you want to bring out the best and true potential of what you already own.

I misunderstood your words here...
”AND the inside of the chassis including the inside of the cover”
I suppose you meant the parts inside the chassis, but you can see it can be interpreted otherwise.
|
^^^
Ah yes, but I was very careful and used due diligence. :-)
As a result, nothing has exploded yet. The results are actually quite fantastic.
As a point of clarification, I didn't say to paste the "chassis." Its one of the few areas I left alone. Frank |
Frank you said "Yes, paste everything inside including the sides of the receptacles (plugs), wires, connections, Caps, AND the inside of the chassis including the inside of the cover."
|
I think he is referring to pasting the entire unit chassis, outlet sides, wires, caps, etc... and potentially causing an unintended conductive bridge leading to a short. It is a good reminder to be very careful and diligent. Agreed? |
|
^^^ sbayne ...
The hex screws on my power conditioner were not "tamper proof." All screws came out readily .... although it took three differently sized "wrenches" to get them out.
The power conditioner is unplugged from the power source before beginning any work.
Pasting contacts is pasting contacts. What's the danger in pasting the connecting wires to the outlets in the power conditioner as opposed to pasting the switches in the circuit breaker box, the ends of an interconnect cable, the tines on an electrical plug, or the pins on a phono cartridge?
Just curious as to how you arrived at the "danger" aspect of this.
Thanks ...
Frank |
People please use common sense. As stated in its literature Total Contact is HIGHLY CONDUCTIVE. Painting the entire inside of a power conditioner is dangerous! They put "tamper proof" hex screws on there for a reason! Its very irresponsible for anyone, especially a manufacturer, to advise people to drill them out and offer to give advice on how to do so. |
Justtubes2 ...
No problem getting my hex screws out. I just used a hex wrench. My problem was that there were three sizes of wrenches needed to remove the screws on just the cover.
Frank |
Hey. Timmy said if the company has used red thread lock, it's heat only.... and it's high heat. Not positive, but I think it's 800+ degrees. A solder tip should do the trick, unless the screw is going through a PC board... but even then, you should be OK. Torch....NO-NO. Tamper-proof we've seen? One company will strip out the hex. You have to drill out the countersunk screw .... a countersink bit, drill press and a real soft touch. You should be able to do without marring the surrounding case. Call Timmy tomorrow, he'll explain in more detail. . . . Good night. Krissy and Tim
|
Hi,
WD40 works well for rusted or gunk seized treads, but my real concern is if the units screw threads where intentionally thread locked or threads possible flatted to tamper proof the unit and keep prying hands out.
The force needed does seem like the hex head may "round" if further force was used.
Just wondering how and where inside the unit could paint some Total contact.
Thanks |
Hey.... I cheated and asked Timmy. He said wick a little bit of lubricant, either silicone, PB Blaster or WD 40....you just have to be careful because petroleum based lubricants will attack rubber and some plastics. With that said, lightly spray little short blasts, the cap head screw will suck it in a tiny bit. Let it sit for one to two days, and it should break away, no problem-o. <3 Krissy & Timmy
|
@oregonpapa How do you undo the hex screws from the Sound Application conditioner.
Mine seems to be stuck and hardly turn, afraid they will get damaged or stripped?
Thanks |
tuffy ...
Yes, paste everything inside including the sides of the receptacles (plugs), wires, connections, Caps, AND the inside of the chassis including the inside of the cover.
It took an entire tube of TC to do my six-outlet power conditioner. For the price of one tube of Total Contact, if your results are the same as mine, you'll be getting a $10,000 upgrade to your system. No joke.
These results were attained right off the bat ... as soon as I put the power conditioner back together. It was a VERY significant improvement. With that in mind, remember that there is a curing process for the Total Contact, with jumps in SQ at four weeks, and another big one at eight weeks.
I can hardly wait.
Frank
|
In order to paste the entire chassis one would need a tub of TC🙂 I pasted my breaker panel door and used almost 1/2 a container. I would use a whole one or more to cover my BPT conditioner. |
I forgot to thank and mention my friend Bob in Plainfield Il (Dorkwad) who told me about the TC thread. I hope he is enjoying his new wonderful speaker addition to his system. |
