Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

The Chardonnay will work well with the Pass X250.5 - my Syrah was great with my X 250.
It (Syrah)has ample gain for my Audiopax 88s but way too much for my friends Mcintosh monoblocks, very noisy but I think the problem lies with the power amps not the Supratek.
My older (7 year old) Supratek has possibly just less than half the gain of the Syrah, the phonostage has sod all gain.
It can be something of a lottery with these without a spec sheet to go by.
I imagine things will be settling now Mick has a workforce but older ones can be a tad 'unique', leading to hiccups.
Anyone own or listened to the Supratek Mondeuse amplifiers? If so, please some comments.
Anyone here driving electrostats with Micks new amps, specifically vintage Quads?....
For those of you have gotten off the tube rolling Merry go round, I am just getting on! I am looking for a pair of used Tung Sol Round plates for my Chenin. Right now it is a lot of fun trying different tubes but it is also expensive! If anyone has an extra pair, let me know! Bob
