Speaker recomendation

Are you planning dance parties when you have more people over? Or classical and jazz cocktail party only?

The reason I ask is you could get either great aesthetic speakers or excellent audio quality big box coffins for that price. Probably not both. The aesthetic designs won’t be trance dance party capable but would look elegant and do jazz and classical ok at low levels.

I would prefer to learn more about the OP requirements than all this distraction. Speakers really depend on the requirements and tastes of the OP. I think the OP has left.

Thanks for response. I see you are a value buyer - good sound but not overly expensive. I would stick to US made speakers: Revel, Vandy or Thiel.

Exactly. Americans make nearly everything in Asia or Mexico. Very good value. Definitely the last place I would look for SOTA but for value “American Brand” - the stuff made in Asia is by far the best value.

If you read above the OP found Dynaudio and Spendor to be too expensive by a long way - 5K...so I am simply trying to help in consideration of the OP needs.

Used Thiel would be great value.

All my two channel gear is almost all new and all made entirely in the West. UK and USA. Not outsourced. However, I pay a big premium for that pleasure....at least double the price.

After reading a review of the current Dynaudio FocusXD and XEO line and that they offer, I feel I would be crazy not to consider actives for use in my home. Does anyone have an opinion based on their own listening experience about Dynaudio’s active line or other similarly priced speakers that are active?

In this case, active ATC should be on your auditioning list. In active speakers it really doesn’t get any better than ATC. And the technical advantages to eliminating a passive crossover are significant. However, an active design is not as flexible (no choice of power amp) - so it is critical that the design is done right. ATC have been doing this for more than 30 years (time tested) and used by professionals globally as a reference (highly respected). These aren’t warm sounding (very neutral or clinical) but the mid range is captivating for vocals and everything else - regarded as an industry reference. You can sweeten the sound to your tastes with a tube preamp and choice of DAC - so you still have some flexibility.

Those bachaudio speakers are beautiful and yes you do have more flexibility in sound options if you can use a tube power amp for the mid range - more fun tweaking too!
