Straley Reality Cables... RE: coverings

I read that the covering affect the sound but there wasn't much written about it. Has anyone had both covered and raw Reality Speaker cables? How would you describe the difference?

The cables appear red or magenta in the pics on the site. Odd color. Seems black and white covers are available.
