as you are very wrong here and giving bead advice.
You must always use either the assessment box or the proper high pass
 its that simple.

 absolutely great choice!
 rvpiano start with using the supplied assessment box and read the well written manual.
 This will assure your investment is safe.
 The manual will explain how you experiment with the various settings that
 work with your amps specific input impedance.
 The most important thing to realize some amps like rotel and bryston
 you may need to go lower in the settings then usual to get the right amount of bass.
A pair of these will improve your in room bass response while also allowing your main amp to benefit from doing any heavy lifting.
 when its all set correctly leveled and spiked your whole system dramatically performs better and on a more engaging level.

  Sometimes you must go 2 steps backwards in order to get 12 forward
If you put a pair of 2WQs that are sealed and high passed
with your sealed main speakers and a real amp you will be way ahead of a one ported sub with digital amps while also chasing an in room bass hump that spoils your mid range.

when you hook up
your amps low input imp and the subs in RCA parallel  w your tube Pre amp it will see a very low imp load 
 Lifeless may be the result

I got it Al but will still wage the 15 K combine will not be optimized.
Three positive things could result if he was able to High Pass with a non
Ice design move to a100 k input imp amp and go at it x 2 at speaker level.
 its sad because its what he was really looking for in the first place.

(((For what it’s worth, I don’t like running my main speakers through some external crossover. I am concerned that additional electronics in the way of the main speakers will cause a loss of transparency. I let them play full range, and feed the subs by a second set of outputs on my line stage, directly to the amps on a pair of 15 inch sealed Rythmiks. I haven’t had the room measured yet, but I got them playing pretty good)))

 Sometimes we take 2 steps backwards to get 12 forward.
 Take a look at your in room response by downloading Vandertones
  write down 1 to 11 vertically on paper for left ch and 1 to 11 right.
Now Insert Vandertones Burned CD trk 1 to 11 try and get only 8 of 11 of these tracks over 70 db simply by adjusting the preamps volume control.
 once you have nailed 8 of 11 over 70 db c weighted slow your ready to write down the measurements for left and then track 16 to 27 for the right channel.
