TRL 595-how good is it?

I am a digital junky, so I have been thru well over a dozen players in the past 12 months. My favorite is the APL 3910. I just bought the TRL Sony 595 from the Tsunami auction, and will receive next week. Any one here have experience with this machine? I TT Paul from TRL and he said he is still shaking his head from disbelief on how good this puppy sounds. I am impatient, so would love some feedback. I also love the fact it is a 5 disc changer. Could it be a world beater? I have TT a person who sold his Cary 303/200 after burning this puppy in.

Ehquiring minds want to know

Thanks

I have yet to meet an audionut, or to read a review from an audionut who invested in a modification without a first listen, who then upon initial hook-up reported anything but a glowing review of the product. It's human nature, I suppose. We all want to hear remarkable improvements, and we may subconsciously convince ourselves we hear remarkable improvements regardless of their true merits. I'm guilty of this. I've owned modified CD or Universal players that I thought were better than anything I had previously owned, only to later sell them because there was something about their sound that bugged me enough to look elsewhere for the "ideal" source.

Doesn't it stand to reason that some mod, somewhere, is not be all it's cracked up to be? If so, why don't we read about it? Protection of one's investment and re-sale value? Could be.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if we could feel free enough to admit that what we thought was the Holy Grail of modified sources was just an interesting trinket that temporarily captured our attention along the way?
Lkdog, well said on every point. Your post should be Perma-Plaqued and hung in every "What's the Best", or "This Beats That", thread.
Yeah, I'm with Lkdog on this one. A shootout report written by one of only two participants is of little value beyond the opinion expressed. Has anyone ever read a shootout report written by the owner of the "losing" player in which he/she preferred the machine other than the one he owns?
I hope the TRL owner will eventually come forth and either corroborate the extant findings, or voice an alternate opinion of the outcome.
Any wagers on what that opinion will be?

:)
So, Guido, you can neither confirm nor deny what may or may not have occurred at the alleged shootout?

:)

TVAD, are you a lawyer? I can neither confirm nor deny what I do not know. Whenever I discover I have made a mistake in a post, like I did above, I correct it.

Guido, my comment was as a joke...poorly executed. No harm intended, my friend.

BTW, I am not an attorney, but grew up in the home of one.

Smilin has a right to share his experience, like anyone else. As a reader of these threads, I look for information pertaining not only to quality and characteristics of gear, but also to experiences with manufacturers and dealers.

Lkdog, you clearly have a good experience with TRL, and you've been positively promoting TRL and Paul's products for months.

A differeing opinion is welcome. No one is perfect.
