QL8 you're referring to?
Sorry if you're referring to that, he was dead, left some time for sale and then sold these days.

Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
haaaah ok ok.......... I thought the TT 81 was this sold on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-Model-QL-8-TT-81-Turntable-/152408974834?hash=item237c4865f2:g:f~IAAOSw4... |
I read in the TT101 service manual that it do not need maintenance and engine lubrication but I believe little. All turntables and those who have many many years of life need cleaning pin and lubrication with oil and perhaps thrust pad as for Technics SP 10 MK None of you have ever done this to her TT 101? |
As soon as I finish restoring a pair of 10-SP II I will pass to the restoration of a TT101 does not work, is completely broken and given to me for free. So I’ll have to completely take it apart piece by piece and I can see and understand what the state is spindle and thrust pad. You will need a major revision to electronics, I hope they are not IC failures. |
HI, Mouser, RS components or Ebay......there are a lot of online retailers! You can search the Panasonic series FC 85 ° range or rather the 105 ° range. From what I’ve found, Panasonic produces capacitors of all values, alternatively Nichicon, Sanyo, Elna .... but you have to check if these brands offer a large catalog of choice from the manufacturer you will choose. Unfortunately the present capacitors will be much smaller in size than those on the turntable; in 40 years technology has made giant steps for miniaturization. You will need to adapt them. Cheers |
Shane-rather than buying the Denon....I'd be more tempted to buy his TT-101 as a backup to mine. Knowing how thoroughly and beautifully re-built his Victor is...I suspect it may be the best TT-101 in existence...?🤗 You write this because you have concrete evidence to believe is the best, or are mere assumptions? |
@jp very interesting the brochure, on the internet I had never found anything about it. @downunder the arm collects the best EPA 100 and 500 but I believe it is limited to a narrow range of cartridges. The TP4 cartridges have never reached the great quality and musicality of the traditional MM and MC cartridges and it is for this reason that it is limiting in choice, that you have supplied is a very good cartridge but your turntable deserves the best for the cartridges. |
ohh yes yes ..the P100 C mk4 is a great cartridge I know this very well, even your stylus or stylus and cantilever VDH, but you possessed a large cartridges park as many fans have this would be very frustrating not being able to play with everything. For the dust cover I think there are screws in the hinges to adjust the inclination, try to see if I'm right. |
@ Chakster beautilfullll your front-end wow wow wowwwwwwww This is my SP 10 II restored from a few months but two more SP 10 II and a Jvc TT 101 are waiting for my job for this year. Unfortunately I do not have the time to upload photos but I can only insert the link where I published my long restoration work. http://forum.videohifi.com/discussion/375892/technics-sp-10-mk2-inizia-il-restauro-refurbished-e-fin... |
@pbnaudio I do not know what to say, I expect to have some rest to take over the TT101 that I was given a few months ago, because almost nothing works and the engine spins fast .....display not work and it needs a great deal of restoration from me. I hope to solve the many problems that he has https://s2.postimg.org/440jrafnd/image.jpg |
@pbnaudio @Lewn I do not know grand master JP but, I’m sure, I can not and I do not want to send the turntable to the world; I live in Italy and would have an exorbitant cost of shipping, repairing, customs and taxes; I have to fix it and restore it completely and I have to do it yourself. I’ve already got the service manual and I have a look at the two big mother board .... there will be a lot of work for me next winter and I hope there are no custom made ICs for this turntable. I already have a decent experience with the Techncs SP 10 II ..... I have restored a pair with their power supplies by disassembling all screw on the screw (even the engine) I had to repair broken tachometer coil wires, and put everything completely new and two others are under construction. All this is just for passion and because I love collecting old high-level turntables that would end up in trash because they're broken. :) for example this is 3ad my last restoration with more photos If you are curious....... http://forum.videohifi.com/discussion/375892/technics-sp-10-mk2-inizia-il-restauro-refurbished-e-fin... |
@lewm @pbnaudio Many many thanks for your precious help..... I will keep in mind if insurmountable problems arise when I begin work. Surely the turntable will need a complete recap first of all because the capacitors are all original (many failures happen because of the skills out of tolerance) and later I will be able to discover the remaining faults. I hope everything is resolved without major problems (I'm optimistic) luckily in the world there are good technicians very competent for repairs and to give some advice on this turntable; In the states there is Mr.JP in Italy someone might find, in UK I found there is a good laboratory with plenty of experience on the JVC turntable also for our TT-101 (I need to find the address). This does not rule out that if I need an unsolvable failure I will ask all these competent people to understand and solve the problem. I hope so much is not broken some IC unproblematic but I understand that Lewm has some spare for sale. My English is bad and writing is not perfect, so you can understand that I'm a stranger. :) |
@lewnEverything can be ... I have no feedback from this old authorized delaer / repairer and I have not even read of any TT101 defective owner who, desperately turned to him; But asking if he is able to repair does not cost anything. @chakster No news for now. I just polished the platter to have it as new eliminating bad signs I’ve seen the Russian videos on youtube a while ago ... it does not explain how it has been able to adjust it to perfection. totem395 yes is sample version....Look if you can see the finish http://s949.photobucket.com/user/marika-johnson/slideshow/JVC%20TT-101?sort=9 |
I found the turntable repairer that in the past had saved the link ..... I do not know how it works and what experiences it has, but if anyone in the future needs it can remember it. https://www.wilkinsons.tv/?page_id=1173 |
Technics claimed the SP-10MKIII would maintain speed with up to one thousand tonearms tracking at 2 grams each. Sure, look at this photo from the 1976 Japan Audio Fair during the presentation of the Technics SP 10 mk2 what it could do without speed variations; The MK3 is even an even more powerful engine. http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad331/marika-johnson/AA.jpg @Halcro ok ;) |
Wow big turntables Technics mk3 and also mk2. I finished these days to restructure my Mk2 working about 18 months but only in limited time ....... but I'm happy because everything is back exactly like new. After a while I will also restore the TT-101 and aesthetically and electronically have big problems and is not perfect. |
