I would use it as is for a while, the Ortofon is a good cartridge and I would get use to it before I made any decision.
What cartridge does a Thorens TD-121 deserve?
A couple of months ago I picked up a Thorens TD-121 (the TD-124's baby brother) in very good condition with a rewired SME 3009 II, and an Ortofon 2m Bronze cartridge. For the most part I'm quite satisfied, but I can't help but wonder how much better it can be (if at all). Is there a point where the cartridge is simply overkill for the table and arm? What would be the best cartridge you would put on this table? Thanks! -Joe
