Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
@slaw, I too like the Andrew Gold album. Andrew was (R.I.P.) a real good musician and producer, but a rather unpleasant person (I use to run into him around Sherman Oaks when we both lived there in the 90's). He made an incredible album under the name The Fraternal Order Of The All, entitled Greetings From Planet Love (CD only, 1997). It's mock-psychedelic music, really well done.
Styx.....one of the best pomp rock bands ever! Have every album on vinyl. Saw them in England when they did a tour to support the Paradise Theater album.
The Grand Illusion and 2112 were on constant rotation in our student common room!
Gavin DeGraw, Sweeter Smashing Pumpkins, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stadium Arcadium Portishead, " Revenge of The Number"
My one claim to fame though, our band had our vinyl cut and mastered at the Abbey Rd Studios. Paul Nicholas was in at the same time overseeing the mastering of his new album. We managed to resist having a photo walking the walk though.......
I have an already long history of trying to get a decent copy of this lp delivered to me. Finally found it through SSD.
Do not use Amazon for this lp. It comes in a large sealed plastic cover that is so large it allows for major slippage during shipping that will most likely result in it's outer jacket being destroyed during shipment through outlets that aren't use to shipping lps.
The MFSL Abbey Road is somewhat of an analog masterpiece!. No problem having bought it. Ringo's drumming on "Carry That Weight" is sublime!. The perfect compliment to the guitars that will follow! I'm very happy!
Let's see, that's three exclamation points......Hmmmmmmmmmm
