The thirteenth step.... A Perfect Circle
Cannot wait until April for their first new studio album in what 13 years or so! If their teaser tracks are any indication it should be killer! |
|
Speaking of another acquired taste but excellent is the late great Roy Buchanan. His cover of Hey Joe is insane! |
Lohengrin, on Walhall, Rysanek, Varnay, Kónya at Bayreuth ‘58. Stupendous.
|
Not everyone is going to like Trower, he can be an acquired taste for sure. Just personal I do prefer Rory Gallagher or Pat Travers but like I said its all up to the individual. |
Illuminations..... Wishbone Ash |
+1 slaw.
There are about a dozen Robin Trower albums in my rotation - they are all excellent.
Stephen Stills “2”. Incredible songwriter and guitarist!
|
@slaw - Don't JUDGE me man! Don't JUDGE me! :~)
Thanks for the correction..... |
|
@kumakahn,
Is "Day of the Eagle" a real album title?
Having said that, it is a great song..but there's SO MUCH more of his catalog for you to discover. This might have been best to do before posting a "finding" on just one (cd)?
|
I am grateful for all the new music I have learned about on this forum. But, based on all the Robin Trower love here, I bought his Day of the Eagle CD, and I have to say that I am lost as to what is special about Robin Trower. Sounds like Hendrix but more practiced and less raw to my ears.
|
Today I listened to The Who "Live At Leeds, Deluxe Edition" and Nirvana "Unplugged". |
@nutty,
Don't know if you remember.....? you posted "Free For All" a while back. This brought back a lot of memories. I knew I owned it at one time. Could not find it. I attended a record show last Sunday, I stumbled upon a WLP /w/ DJ timing strip "Free For All"\. I'm pretty darn happy...... will listen this weekend, hopefully?
I actually ended up with some really nice finds, all in great condition!

Am in complete agreement about the Tower/Bruce collaborations... BLT, Truce & Seven Moons.
Don't forget Jack's excellent bass work.
See my 3/15/16 post in this thread (not to mention my avatar). |
I did The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots on red, German Vinyl. I think this is their best album and sonically this record is amazing. Just picked up the reissue copy on red vinyl and have been extremely impressed with the sound quality of this pressing for not a crazy price, $22. It was my 7th and 8th run thru this record in 3 days. Kenny Dorham - Quiet Kenny on AP 200 gram vinyl. This is such a great performance and the sound quality on this 33rpm Analog Productions version is one of the best in my collection. It is incredible. I really didn't know a lot about him when I picked this up and Holy Smokes am I glad I did. I have listened to this copy about 25 times in the last few weeks. Also Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West on newly reissued vinyl. This is by far their best record but I am not overly impressed by the pressing I picked up. Honestly I never had this one on vinyl so nothing to compare it to but digital but there is a pretty good amount of noise between the tracks, but the album is so great anyway. |
+1 Mattmiller. A classic.
