Why not horns?

I've owned a lot of speakers over the years but I have never experienced anything like the midrange reproduction from my horns. With a frequency response of 300 Hz. up to 14 Khz. from a single distortionless driver, it seems like a no-brainer that everyone would want this performance. Why don't you use horns?

I own horns as well. You should do a bit more reading before throwing around terms like "distortionless".
You girls still beating this thread? OK, as the first step in my twelve step program, I just sold my Klipsch Fortes and use, as my main speakers, 1977 Klipsch Cornwalls. And I really, really like them.

Growing up in the mono era, my dad had a single Klipschorn, in a NYC apartment, no less. But as I got a bit older and started reading the audio mags I learned that horn speakers were garbage and that started my quest owning B&W, Celestion, Spendor, Magnapan, Infinity, Epos and scads more. Now, fourty years later, I find myself back where it all started and I could not be happier. HP and J. Gordon took me down their paths, but they weren't mine.

Hi, I'm Marty and I'm a hornaholic.
Mrdecibel, is it the showing up late, or the immaturity, that is the problem with Face's post?

If the former, he probably missed your invitation to join at a specific time in his inbox. If the latter, I take it as an amusing joke. Have you been moderating these forums, and keeping the members on time, for a long time now?
OK, back to the horn thing. I just got a pair of Altec 19s a few weeks ago and they are sounding great. Less efficient than my Cornwalls and less forward as well, but they have fantastic impact. I feel like I am in that Maxell ad every time I turn them on (I know, our younger members are asking, "What's a Maxell?", time moves on.).
