Amp On or Off?

Is it a good idea to leave solid state A/B amp on all the time to avoid the heat-up/cool-down stress on internal components?
wrayray
It being a solid state amp I would just leave it on. They say it will be less stresful on the internal components; plus it isn't very expensive. My old Bryston 4B-ST only cost approx. $7.00 a month to leave on. Best, Charlie
Part of the answer is what you get, and what you need... from your amp.
My Forte' is running in class A when idling, and costs about $10. per month if it is left on all the time. It also is a warm little amp, and in the Summertime I really have to turn it off or the air-conditioning bill goes up an added $20.
BUT (and this is a biggie) The amp (and all the rest of my gear) sounds best after it's been on for at least a day. So the tradeoff is bhah sound and save money and the environment, or have audiological nirvana and pay pay pay.
However this last year I had several colds and that screwed up my "golden ear" royally, for a long long time. (I couldn't hear sh!t, to put it plainly)
So to you: ??Does your amp sound better if you leave it on all the time? or lust the same?? What are your priorities? ecological maven, or hardcore audiophile?
The question of "Which is better for the amp?" is not nearly as important. The difference in the life of you amp is like "It will last 63 years before it pops a cap if you never turn it off, ever." VS "It will last only 57 years if you turn it on and off twice a day."
Off when not in use. Ask you amp's designer if it sounds different, in their experience, after it has been on a while. My designer said turn it off, but not tell anyone, if I wanted to stay in the "club." I do not appreciate in difference in sound, either.
