jriver settings advice

New to pc audio. I am using an HP laptop nothing special with Windows 7 Pro and Jriver. USB to an Oppo 105D. My ripped CD's sound fine but my Hirez downloads are nothing special. I think I am probably not using the best settings in Jriver.
can anybody give me some guidance?
