Jazz listening has dulled my taste for Rock...you?

Since seeing Ken Burns Jazz series, and beginning to listen to, and appreciate Jazz... I find that I no longer find Rock music to be very interesting. Compared to Jazz, the music is BORING! The very best of Rock can still hold my attention a bit, but generally Rock is just too primitive and 'simple' compared to Jazz.
Classical music is so different, and has such different rules, that I still find it very appealing, but Rock... bleeh!!! (sorry Rock fans... and I'm not trolling, I really wonder if anyone else has had this happen!)

Wow 4yanx I never thought of Elizabeth as snotty or stuck up. But then again who does she think she is prefering jazz over rock? There is no reason for the ugly head of musicism to be raised on this politically correct website.

I'm not guilty of musical stylism, I'm just schitzoid. I go from classical, to opera, to rock, to jazz, and even in moments of weakness even to a little country music.

Am I too discriminating, or not discriminating enough?

...an' dats da name a dat tune!
I share some of your "schitzoidism" UMF, but nowhere did I direct the fickle finger of fate at Liz. I see where the the intial post in this thread professes a disdain for rock, anyone's privledge. OTOH, I specifically based my comments with respect to those that claim to be more "grown up" by preferring one type of music over another. Unless I've missed something, that is not quite what the original poster has said.
Yes, Elizabeth, this has absolutely happened to me. At one time not that many years ago I listened to about 90% rock/pop, and 10% classical or jazz. Now it's about 70% jazz and 30% classical. I couldn't agree more with you regarding jazz (and classical) being so much more interesting.
Funny you should mention this. I was fueled by rock until 1976 when I went nuts for Jazz and Blues and haven't yet recovered. However, I find that I've begun to like rock a lot again lately. New stuff and old stuff. I just love the sound of multiple, overdriven electric guitars. Go figure.
