Most american brand hearing aides are total junk.
The Japanese make a very sophisticated one, pricy and hard to get.
A hearing aide is a trip. If you really must have one it is indespensible, but one for mild loss is folly.
They are a pain in the ass and can make matters worse too.. for moderate loss.
I am deaf (totally) in one ear from a teenage accident, and have tried some types that cost an arm and a leg but were STILL crap. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but the hearing aide industry in the USA sucks and preys on old people to stay in business. If they had to produce a quality product, they would go bankrupt in a week.
That is if you want audiophile quality sound. If you just want to hear grunting and toilet flushing noises, get the Beltone.
