Which sounds better--DVD or CD?

I'm just curious--which format offers superior sonics: DD or DTS encoded DVD's or regular CD's? Many music concerts are available in both formats.

Definitely NOT CDs, unless they're recorded at 24-bit 96 kHz, and no major labels are doing that to my knowledge. I use a purist 2-channel approach in my HT with DVD, and it's easy to tell that the sound it provides is definitely superior to CD, even with my budget Pioneer DV-333 DVD player. It sounds so good that I'm in no rush to get into multichannel surround sound. Besides, explosions happening behind my head when the action is all in front of me just somehow seems unnatural and distracting -- though I may be one of the few who sees it that way.
this is just what i've experienced----i have a linn rig w/ an arcam cd player and a marantz dvd player --both were the same price $700---and CD just kills the dvd-----------the dvd sounds thinner less weight--compared w/ the cd player! i do run every thing 2 channel---i probaly wont go home theatre as i havnt heard anything that sounds as good as a what i've got for the money!! just a thought!
