Rogue vs ARC

If the companies offer good warranties, and if one believes they will be around to support the warranties, then does build quality matter that much?

It seems to me a little like a discussion of Honda vs. Acura. Both are excellent cars built to different price points.

I would say not needing repair is better than getting repairs, with needing them and not getting them being the worst.

My prior post presupposed both Rogue and ARC are well built. I have no reason to believe from the standpoint of build quality that Rogue gear needs repair any more than does ARC.

Does anyone have evidence to suggest otherwise?

They are both good but different along the line Dave Mitchell outlined above I believe from what I have seen and heard.

I've heard top notch results from a system using ARC sp17 pre-amp, a larger Rogue power amp (can't recall exact model) and PSB Synchrony speakers. Same system using Usher and Magnepan speakers was still OK but not as good to my ears.

IMO, if an amp sounds good, it sounds good. More expensive parts don't necessarily equate to better sound.

So, for me, the issue of one manufacturer using "better" parts (define better...) doesn't make much difference if the amp using less expensive parts sounds equally good, if not better.

Not making a judgment call here on the sound of Rogue vs. ARC. Just making an observation that better/more expensive parts don't necessarily equate to better sound. I can think of a few products that I have owned that have sounded exceptional without being built with the best parts available.
