Well, I'm not an expert, but I can say that if you measure a bass hump at 31.5 Hz, you can certainly use an equalizer to attenuate this frequency, and it doesn't have to be a Rives or Accuphase product. I've done it nicely with an Audio Control C-101.
The downside is the risk of noise in the audio chain, whereas improving the room mitigates this problem.
