There is really no reason to ask this question here as it is not a matter of opinion, it is clearly covered in the Audiogon Member FAQ to whit:
"The Seller in all cases is responsible for delivering an item as described in his ad."
IMHO, even though the common carriers will do everything not to pay a claim, it is simply foolish, cheap, and very, very optimistic to forego insurance.
Then again if you like driving without a seat belt, having unprotected anonymous sex and taking a leisurely swim in the Hudson River then this "no insurance" thing might be right up your alley.
