found some old records. advice please.

Guys sorry to bug and especially if this is a old worn out topic. Just had a death in the family and in the process of sorting things out I found a fairly sizable stack of records. All are fairly old (look to be 60's and prior) and as far as I can tell are in good shape. Issue is I know absolutely nothing about vinyl. Would anyone have some suggestions to help me get started in evaluation and most likely sales of old albums? For example are there online sources that I can use for determining if these are of value/interest and if so the best way of doing so? appreciate any advice. thanks guys.

Ebay or gemm are your best sources for determining value, however condition is also a determinant of value and that will be hard for you to gauge without playing the records.

Unfortunately, most records, old or otherwise, have very nominal value. You might just check your list against ebay and drop those of little value off at Goodwill and take the write-off.
Don't give up too quickly. I recently sold off some vinyl and was surprised at how much they brought. I sold 200 records for about $4,000. The big money came from the Mobile Fidelity and Nautilus albums (some still sealed), but I sold $800 of random albums from the 60's and 70's. It's impossible to guess the titles and artists that you inherited but get some advice from a used record store. Records in decent shape from the 60's and 70's may only bring about $4-5 per record, but if you have enough of them it adds up to real money. Good luck!
