Interesting thought- Linn &

Been considering a Linn Radikal power supply/motor kit for my LP12. It is now powered by a late "shoe box" Lingo- old styl box but the circuit board is all SMD's.

Anyway, it occurred to me that for the price of the Radikal I could buy a VPI Prime with a tonearm. I recently heard the Prime and was very impressed with it

I really like my Linn, and have zero thoughts of disposing it.

So so the theoretical question is Prime or Radikal? It would be great to move my LP12 up another notch and it ours be a blast to hav a 2nd TT

Zavato,
Unlike Norman above, I added a Radikal D to my Linn and the difference was easy and clearly heard. The Radikal D is a huge improvement to the Linn TT.

Do the 'AB' with the the VPI Prime...and compare it to a Linn LP12 Radikal D; I suspect ( strongly) that the idea of adding the Prime will quickly fade away, LOL.
I'm not dissatisfied at all with my LP 12- mine works and sounds great! But I do like variety. Why in the world would I own 3 distinctly different headphone amps? One is an OTL tube amp, the other also a tube amp but not OTL, and the there's a SS amp. It's for variety

It just appeared to me to be fun to have an alternate table- I can imagine the Prime with a Dynavector cartridge!
If you want fun then invest in a Direct or Idler drive like the Technics SP10 Mk2 or Jean Nantais Reference Lenco or a Loricraft Garrard 301.

An LP12 with Radikal is a much higher level of playback than the Prime IMO so you will not exactly gain in terms of fun.
Pani....Seriously disagree....   Firstly, the selection of a proper cartridge, and proper setup is imperitive.   That being said, the Prime is an unexpected wonder...especially for the price.  You also get VPI's generous support.  I had a Linn, and am now a happier VPI'er  I dare say you haven't really heard the Prime.
Well folks a Dual  1219 would be fun too. It's just about now I wish I never sold my V15 Type 3
