Downsizing

Probably moving from house to small apartment. I presently have Merlin VSM with all recent upgrades and Cary SLI-80 F1 amplifier. Overall very pleased with the sound but could use a little more bass. I will need to go to monitors. Considerations include Merlin TSM, Focal 1008 Be, Sony ES. I will go used as usual. I don't want to change amplifier right now. Space is small, so I will not need more power.
Any suggestions?

Dual woofers still go as low as 1 woofer, but have more dynamic range.

Lots of people like that Dayton tweeter but I haven't heard them. If that's what you are looking for, the matching LM-1C is also an MTM. Check it!

I think if you have a small room, and using a sub, any of the three kits we've discussed will be really nice. :)

Also, there's an MTM kit designed by Dr. Joseph D'Appolito somewhere in the Parts Express speaker gallery you may want to check out as well. From my memory, the LM-1C was far more neutral, but again, have only heard the LM-1's, and when you are the designer it's like being a chef. You make what you think tastes best. :)

I should also point out that while MTM designs have narrower dispersion, they also have more lobing. Being off axis of the tweeter can be a bigger deal than for a 2-way. So it's good to solicit listener opinions.

I really like the LM-1C but can't help you compare it. :) It works well as the center of my HT with the LM-1's and another pair of very neutral speakers I use for reference.

I have preference towards the new BW D3.  You might want to demo the 805d3.
