VPI Prime noise issue solved (wasn't the Prime's fault:)

Thanks to everyone for all of the suggestions as I wrestled with my VPI Prime hum issues.  Turned out it had nothing to do with the table.  The one part of my system I forgot to mention was the Eagle PSU speed control.   Apparently the unit causes all of the hum.  I bought it at the same time as the Prime, so I just hooked it all up together.  Tonight I plugged the VPI straight into the wall - almost dead silence.

Too bad that the speed control causes so much noise (I tried different PCs, outlets, positioning, etc.).

Thanks for all the help!

I have the Prime (amazing table btw) and the Eagle.  No hum at all.  My power supply is 3 ft at least from the TT.  Where is your PSU located? By the way the Eagle PSU and Tach work flawlessly and made the TT an even better product.
I have tried every location I can think of.  It's on the floor now, three feet below the table, but the hum is still there.  Using a grounding wire from the Eagle PSU to the phono amp quiets it down, but it's still audible and interferes with low level details.  Right now I'm just plugging the Prime into the wall and not using the Eagle.  I posted on the VPI website, and apparently the hum from the Eagle is a common issue that is often resolved by a ground wire.  I will have to experiment some more, but right now I'm enjoying the Prime as is.
Sorry to hear you can't rid yourself of the hum. I hate hum; you spend all this money on hi quality products and the hum gremlin pokes it head out and puts a damper on everything!

dont give up on eradicating the devil hum, the Eagle is a worthy piece to leverage the most from the table!
