What are the best speakers for 80's hard rock?

Hello folks!
I want suggestions for best speakers and amp for 80's hard rock music. Many bad recordings, so many high end speakers (and amps) sounds very harsh and hard, with little bass. It's more important to me that my stereo can play bad recordings in a good way, than play good recordings in a fantastic way.

I want very laidback and soft treble, but I want a bass that goes deep and alo is very punchy.

I know many people say that I should here on vintage speakers. But I want new speakers. Any price range!

Thanks for suggestions!

Since the question included "any price," I’d agree with Atmasphere. Within real life limitations where sacrifices have to be made, certainly some speakers would be more suited for certain music than others.

On a budget for 80s hard rock, I’d second the Infinity primus. I still have a bunch of primus bookshelves that I can’t let myself let go of, even as they sit in their original boxes. To my ears, best bang for the small bucks I may have ever heard.

Can't recall the year(s), but also second the recommendation for Altec Lansing--late 80s or very early 90s.

I can’t recall the model, but I had a pair of 15" CV monsters--with a tweeter that looked like a jet engine--in college. They suited that purpose well--loud, relatively cheap (but not for me at the time), and could be substituted for a DJ in a pinch for parties. Despite the level of musical elitism demonstrated by others, here, I couldn’t recommend them for anything approaching serious listening. There are people who seriously listen to 80s hard rock. m/ m/ But, if you just want to rock out and upset your neighbors, sure.

Across a broad price range, I’d suggest consideration be given to one of the Cantons with 9"+ woofer(s).
--edit on the above--  CV DX9, and not to disparage CVs, in general.  Mostly played in very small or very large rooms, off whatever stereo receiver was on hand, and probably with empty beer cans as acoustic treatment.  YMMV.
stfoth-

during the 80's CV offered the "D" "DX" and "AT" series.  I owned the AT-12
which was overkill on Rock/HardRock/Metal music.  Actually, the 8" or 10"
models were more accurate.  If you had a large room and a very powerful amp, the 15" would wake the dead!
