What Happened to 3D Acoustics Speakers ?

Hey Spud, I had both of my subs rewired, one at a time so I could compare and found a big difference. Van L. Speaker in Chicago did the work for me and have done many speakers. They used Kimber 8tc shot gun and also refoamed the 10" speaker. I also had the mid and tweeters rewired in one pair which helped in smoothing out the tweeter and improving the sound stage. They also used 8tc Kimber shot gun style. I next want to rewire the other speaker pair with FMS cable, which is a much higher quality cable.
I also had one tweeter blow ten years ago, and ended up with five extra tweeters. Madisound had these in stock years ago and they were easy to get. They are French tweeters, if anyone needs any let me know as they are still in the same box for many years.
The story that I was told for the folding of this company was,a new 3D speaker called the Cresendo was so bad and the manufacter forced all their dealers to carry it,that most dealers just dropped the line. The sub and sat are great arn't they. Jeff

Jeff, thanks for the info. I bought some new Mission speakers for HT a while ago and put them side-by-side for a comparision test and the 3D still sound better. I can't believe that after almost 20 years, the 3D still sound pretty good and beats some newer ones too. How much did it cost you for the rewire job and was it worth it? This company also made a floor-standing 3-way called the 3D Acoustics Crescendo. I got a pair at a garage sale and have had the drivers rebuilt. Uses an 8" woofer with very compliant surround in separate cabinet, 6" midwoof with very wide surround in separate cabinet and 0.75" fabric dome tweeter. All drivers are accessible individually (wire runs the back of the speaker from bottom to top). The 8" and 6" drivers remind me of EPI stuff. The in-the-box system resonance is 43Hz, which is good for an 8-incher. The crossover is a simple first-order design. I have not listened to these very critically yet, but they are surely OK.
