Audiophiles should learn from people who created audio

The post linked below should be a mandatory reading for all those audiophiles who spend obscene amounts of money on wires. Can such audiophiles handle the truth?

I assume if somebody is fretting over their amp they've got their room sorted out. I think a lot of people cables too much credit and I think cables are where the real snake oil claims begin. Once you've gotten into fuses and Geoff's hocus pocus you're neck deep in the snake oil and clearly lapping up anybody's crazy claims like gravy. On one hand I think lobbing scathing criticism at stupidity discourages it, but on the other hand it's just cruel to torment the mentally ill. Don't we have a term for people that hear things that don't exist?

So why should I care if our hobby is "ridiculed", and who says that's even the case? I'm not in this for anyone but myself and my love of music. I trust my ears, I like what I like, and could care less what people think about it.
