@audiofun It doesn’t matter if it can produce full output. From experience, cartridges with higher output, or phono preamps with higher gain just simply sound better to my ears and are more gutsy. This is partly the reason why MM cartridges have more drive.
0.25mV into a 57dB gain is just a very bad recommendation to members here. It may be okay for you, but this will sound pretty bad in most cases.
And with all of the good phono preamps available on the marke, why would anyone want to do this?
