20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017

The ONLY people who talk about amps as if they're appliances that all perform the same task the same way have never listened to many and most definitely have never built one. The thing that makes the F5 I built special in my system isn't that it was designed by Nelson Pass. It's special because I've tweaked and voiced it to sound it's best with my speakers. It cost $1000 to build, but what is the value of a really good amp voiced for your own pair of speakers? I'm pretty sure nothing from any era will sound this good.

I am still using a pair of CJ Premier 12 monoblock tube amps from about 20 years ago. They still sound glorious, warm and very engaging. I've thought about having CJ upgrade the caps. Any thoughts about this?

Kosst, could not agree more. Too many people forget that they listen to an audio system, not a pair of speakers or amplifiers. The system is what needs optimization, as  you have done.
