Authenticity of Speakers

One thing that may be confusing is that the serial numbers may be removed from the backs of the speakers and the box. Of course, this is cause for concern, and one immediately thinks that they are stolen, but one of the ways that new goods end up for sale on this site, and other channels is that official dealers get rid of excess inventory by trans shipping stock to unauthorized dealers to raise some cash.

They will, sometimes, obscure the serial numbers so that it does not get back to the manufacturer that they are violating their agreement by selling through unauthorized channels. Warranty will certainly be void. And resale will be compromised as well, so that has to be taken into account in valuing the speakers.

The guy the guy bought a lot. They’re probably the real deal. Check em out and if they’re in real good shape , buy them. 
I’ve bought tons of stuff of cl with no issues. Let your eyes tell you the truth.

The basic Klipsch R-series is their entry-level line, and they're the speakers that, IMO, make a lot of people think they don't like Klipsch speakers, they're a considerable step down from the Klipsch RP series.  

They go on sale for close to half off now and again at Best Buy and the other big box retailers and big online sites, which would bring them new close to the price you're being quoted for used.  

There are tons of them out there, so I wouldn't doubt that the price is real.  I would take the time to listen to a pair somewhere before plonking your money down though, there's a reason they're dime-a-dozen on the used market.

          Just an update, I went to the guy's storage, listened to the speakers  and made a a decision to buy them. This is my first home theater setup for a small/medium size room and wanted to start with basic/average system. Below is what I got,
Onkyo TX-NR575 receiver.
Klipsch R-12SW subwoofer.
Pair of KLipsch R-28F for front L & R.
5.0 set of Klipsch Quintet V for surround.

I did Dolby Atmos setup, 5.1.2 with 2 Quintet's mounted to the ceiling and it sounds quite awesome. I will try to upgrade if moved to a bigger house, but this setup is pretty satisfactory for me right now. Thank you guys for your responses.

They're NOT $449 new. They're $339 new directly from Klipsch. That said, $500 for the pair is plenty reasonable.
