Is this MQA news a big deal?
Interesting. The MQA version of Fairytales doesn’t sound right to my ears. I don’t have the vinyl to compare. Her vocals sound like she is singing slightly diminished intervals. Very fragile slightly dissonant harmonically thin voice. Piano sounds a bit off too. Apart from that I totally don’t understand all the hooopla? |
MQA. total garbage being sold as the Next Coming. I am indifferent to an extreme. I just bought a $7000 DAC (really a SACD player with digital inputs) That does NOT have MQA. So clearly I am putting my money where my mouth is. I have more than enough media to live out my life without buying another item, if magically the Universe was to suddenly start selling ONLY MQA encoded dreck. The main reasons folks should be worried is digital rights management. And one company controlling all media in a rather nefarious way. As for me, I am old and have mine. If you use the net for music, You should be concerned. MQA has no fairy tale ending. |
Walkmans will ruin music!! Not even close. CD’s will replace record albums!!!.... panic! It did not. Mp3 files will destroy the music industry! Did’nt happen. Not even Napster ruined music, although it did allow music sharing and musical artists and record companies scrambled a bit. Streaming music will kill audiophile sound. Nope. MQA will ruin Hi-Fi.... really??? |
