I would say do not make 'little' mostly lateral purchases.
I would save up and buy a single 'big jump up' item at a time.
I owned Magnepan 3.6 with the rest of a system costing as much per item as those speakers, and the speakers still could sound better!
So your speakers are no problem even if you spent $20,000 or more on the rest of the system.
IMO (and I used to own one before I bought a Bryston BP-26) the Adcom is NOT the weak link in your system.
But I also would not pay anything to upgrade it. Upgrading such an item is a fool's quest IMO. If it is working fine, leave it alone.
What sources do you use the most? That is where I would stick the money upgrade to start, in general
(though digital is expensive to really make it better than average)
In general I would think about what sort of used equipment I wanted. And just watch for those items. Sort of a multiple item list with any of which at a good price you would be happy to grab.
Naturally you have to have the money in the bank to buy them if they show up.
