Who has made a move and did you let movers take Hi-Fi

Packed up my system today, along with all of my Vinyl as we are moving in two weeks.  I double boxed the Vinyl along with using styrofoam as insulation.  I'm not taking a chance with movers and will be loading up my truck and bringing myself.

Last move was only about one mile distance.I owned 13,000 LPs and decided to seriously weed them down to 6000. Tossed lots of dups, but mainly endless Classical junk.(straight to Goodwill, still own 1500 Clasical LPs)
I was lucky I could move theLP and shelving in advance and put them in a locker at the new apartment building. Used McDonalds frozen french fry boxes.Everything transported in my car until final day when had help with a big minivan for the oversized stuff.
Moved 3000 miles. Linn LP12 was upside down and leaking bearing oil. 97 pound TVA1 amp was perfect until I dropped it taking it out of the crate.

Moved 2000 miles and let movers take electronics and speakers.  My LP12 drove with me and my geriatric Labrador.  Some things just can't be trusted in unknown hands.
If at all possible, move it yourself. Most these movers are gorillas and don't get paid enough to care. I rented a U Haul to make my move from NY to SC. Nobody cares the way you do.
Many moves, all with movers, many insurance claims.  The reason I had to use movers was they were company moves (Hawaii to NY City, NY City to LA, LA to Alaska, Alaska to up-state NY, etc., 17 in all).  Now retired and I'm done moving!
