I wonder how much of a credit for your old amplifier on a new ARC one? I agree a great tech could replace or bypass the problem chip. That ARC does NOT offer a working solution? bad service.
I would think it could get very costly to try to bypass/alter the problem. And you could' pay hundreds and still have a non-functional amp. So personally I would never try to find someone who would go at it. Unless they promise in writing they will fix it or no charge (I know of no tech who would make such a promise unless they had already done the job before).Another way might be to buy a used ARC amp, a more recent one.
