Bright or Dim?

Have you ever noticed that when listening to music in your listening area that music seems to sound better with the lights down? To me there is a rather noticeable difference. Could be just in my mind because that's how I like to listen, or is it something more biological/scientific than that?  Could it be that the lessoning of one sense enhances the other? Maybe it's just me. Anyway I thought I would see if anyone else has the same experience. Im sure if there is an actual reason for this phenomena, that someone on this forum will have the answer :)

I leave most of the system on 24/7/365.
On always: amplifier, two preamps,(Threshold FET10 plus phono box, Bryston BP-26) SACD/DAC, two five disc CD changers, two power conditioners.Things turned off when not listening to them: Conrad Johnson ACT2, Audible Illusions Modular 3A, Audio Research SP-15, Rudistor RPX-33 mk2 headamp, Rega P-5 TT, Kuzma Stabi/Stogi S TT, Dual Golden One TT The ARC, AI M3a off most of the time since they are tubed, I only use them to play records.
The Conrad Johnson (also tubed) I use all the time, but turn it off since it is really a total furnace. *The hottest preamp probably ever made, that sucker is HOT!! and yes the guy who makes them said yes it is hot, normal. So the CJ I turn off even though I leave the stereo playing on if I go out.(PS I own 7 preamps, six working, five in one system. I guess I like preamps.
