Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic

I think this topic deserves its own thread , where use double ic through y adapters , from source to preamp, Can’t connect it from Preamp to Amp...For me the result is huge, I can’t go back to single ic....

Thomas, I am very happy that you like Schroeder Method; it's quite powerful. You are showing others that a person has to try different things in order to find the best result. That is how I go about tuning systems. When the right combination is found the experience is enthralling.
Thanks Doug for your encouragement.

Through my 40 year’s of audio history, I also learnt that unless you try, you will never know.

I also started your method on speaker cables.

I connected both Teresonic Clarrison Speaker Cable and Audio Note speaker cable at the same time.

I will let my impression be disclosed after 8 hours.

Initial impression is quite good in that the sound get slightly more relaxed with more reverberation and more 3-D imaging.

I had used  Audio Note speaker cable for 20 years which I paid 3K$ ( I am original owner)

It was hard to beat with excellent transparency, treble, tight bass and soundstage.

I happened to get used  Teresonic Clarrison Speaker Cable at reasonable price about 3 weeks ago.

It was close to the performance of  Audio Note with more relaxed sound.

But ultimately I found that  Audio Note has better dynamics and more inner details.

I had   Teresonic Clarrison Speaker Cable and Audio Note speaker cable connected to my speaker at the same time for 12 hours.

It got more relaxed and soundstage got slightly wider and deeper.

The most notable thing is it sound more holographic.

I thinks Doug Method has more effect on IC cables.

But if you have two good speaker cables, you may try.

Unless you try yourself, you will never find out.

If your system give wide and deep soundstage, then this CD will impress your guest.

Now my system give holographic and transparent image of the first track.

Horses are moving around.

Also my system show excellent dynamics of Gun shot at Track 7.

Track 11 ( sound of insect) sound spooky.

For the last 20 years I had kept using Audio Note IC and SC cables.

But I had changed power cables 6 times during 20 years.

About 4 months ago I changed into SR Blue PC.

Now I may not need to change IC or Speaker cables for the time being ( Maybe 3 years or longer).

A couple of experiences to share, all on 1.5M interconnects between my DAC and preamp:

I tried a double run of AQ Fire with two AQ F-shaped splitters. One cable 1.5M and the other 1M long. I noticed a meaningful improvement over a single AQ Fire cable, in all the dimensions described by others. The improvement was enough to prove to me the results of the method. Is the improvement enough to justify the cost of another set of AQ Fire cables? Maybe.

I also tried a double run of Mogami neglex star quad wired into Neutrik connectors. You may be thinking, is it possible to fit four runs of Mogami neglex into a Neutrik XLR connector and the answer is yes, it is possible, but only after radical surgery on the back of the connector. I don’t recommend trying this, it’s a pain. The results, using this cable in place of my regular AQ Fire... different but not better. Possibly it wasn’t worse, but I ended up going back to the AQ Fire after a few days.

I then decided to try building a set of double-run cables using 12 ga. Duelund hook-up wire and Rean RCA plugs, which is what I had on hand. If you are thinking "is it possible to fit four 12 ga Duelund wires into a RCA plug" the answer is yes it is possible, but it is a colossal pain in the ass. I really wish I had paid Bill Dion to do this job and spent the day doing literally anything else. It took me about 7 hours and I never want to see my soldering iron or this Duelund stuff and its cotton insulation again. Argh.

The results though... totally worth it. Wider soundstage, better separation, tighter bass. I’ve only had them in for an hour, and I can’t remember if the cables I cannibalized for this project were broken in or not, so we’ll see what happens there.

I hope all that is helpful for someone.
