If it is a tad bright, put a hankerchief or some small bit of cloth over the new driver, to muffle the driver just a bit. If you play with the screens on, just lay a cloth under the screen at the new driver. Figure out some non-damaging way to keep it in place for a few weeks. (A very small magnet to hold the cloth between the magnet and speaker basket?)i would think that could be enough to get past the difference.
Even taking the old speaker baffle off and leaving the new one on might help.
If later after a hundred hours, you still notice a difference, you could try a permanent solution of a small half ohm resistor in the new speaker?
