Let's not distort facts, guys.
There are three used APL modified players listed for sale: an outdated EMM/Philips SACD 1000, a Macintosh digital player that is not a standard APL mod, and an Esoteric DV-50. This is a long list?
The EMM Philips SACD 1000 transport is an outdated unit known to be prone to failure due to faulty chips from Philips. It is not currently offered by EMM Labs nor is the mod currently offered by APL. Taken together, these facts explain the bargain basement price.
The same applies to the MAC digital player...non-standard, not current, and therefore less demand.
The APL Esoteric modified DV-50 is being discounted 20%. Most of us try to buy used gear at 40%-50% discount or more, and we consider this normal. A 20% discount is "taking a bath"? A 20% discount on a used digital source seems rather fair and reasonable on Audiogon.
I understand you're trying to make a point about modified digital players losing value, but let's not distort facts to make the case.
There is a long list of APL units for sale here on Audiogon
