Anyone into quality vintage direct drive?

I would not consider any lower quality table than those listed. Currently I own a Micro Seiki MR-711 and have owned the Technics SP-10 and Denon DP-6000 in the past. Lesser quality will yield compromised sound.

vintage denon and yamaha.....in some cases, lenco......you just ditched a classic though, so don't expect sonic revelations though going direct. my goldmund studio is great, but never blows any of my belt drives away

What would the disadvantages of a direct drive table be. I am selling my belt drive rig to upgrade to a new rig and during the down time thought about getting a vintage table to play with. I have seen some nice direct drive tables for excellent prices, but not sure if I should pull the trigger based on some comments I have gotten. Considering Teres just unveiled a direct drive model the concept can't be all that bad. I'm sure price point is a factor, but in any case what would be some top direct drive tables to consider, vintage and other.

I had a deal for a Thorens TD-147 and the seller reneged. I'm still in the
market if anyone has a cherry Thorens table they'd like to sell. I'd prefer
a model with auto lift-up.
