Help with used records.

I just got back from the thrift shop with 5 records, Prince - Sign Of The Times, Prince - 1999, Stanley Clarke - Stanley Clarke, Stanley Clarke - School Days and Johnny Cash - Mean As Hell all of these records are in great shape with very clean vinyl and jackets for $3 each.

Here is the problem that I have, I hope someone can help me with this. When you peel the price tag off of the jacket it leaves a stick residue, is there any way to get this off of the jacket or is there a way to get the tag off without damaging the jacket?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

As long as we are on cleaning off LP covers... I use Meguairs Scratch X on a bit of VIVA paper towel to clean off the cardboard covers. The product removes the dirt really well. I use a very small daub and first rub it into the Viva with my finger, THEN rub the cover lightly all oover, movingto a different spot on the Viva as soon as it gets a bit dirty. I can remove most of the ringwear that is just dirt this way.

Works the very best on glossy covers, which it can even restore scratched in ring wear marks to some extent. For waxed covers still works, but may start taking the print off. (Usually a modicum of ink will come off with the first swipes, but that is just loose stuff, and the cover will look way better and the cover's color will 'pop' more after cleaning. But too much and the color WILL be removed, so it is a two edged sword.

Do NOT use that for soft porous paper. I use packing tape for those BUT that is very dangerous!! I take the tape and place the sticky part on my arm to diminish the sticky power of the tape first. Them slide the tape gently with no stopping!! sticky side down across the surface pressing with my fingers on the tape gently. The tape picks up the surface dirt and can clean a soft porous cover pretty well. The danger is if your press too hard, or stop moving the tape smoothly, the tape WILL tear the paper!! So practice this on some junk covers before doing it to a good cover that you want cleaner.
Lighter fluid does an excellent job of removing stickers without damaging the jacket.

Hmm, I might be a little concerned with some of the associated side effects of that one, like increased tendency for records to spontaneously ignite undesirably?
Lighter fluid. Stream some on the sticker before you peel. Make it a pretty liberal amount and it should all some free with no mess or residues.
